When you and your spouse were united in marriage in God's presence, you made a solemn commitment to stick with your wife or husband through good times and bad, in times of joy and sorrow, and in sickness and in health. However, at some point those pledges were breached.

Every marriage has its ups and downs, but eventually you found out that the person you loved and believed to be your spouse had been having an affair. How could the person you have grown old with over the years and who is the mother or father of your children do such a thing? You constantly put their needs before your own, how is it possible that they would do this? If you want to save your marriage after an affair, there are a few things you need to think about and take action on.

Therefore, how do I mend my marriage after an affair? Finding out whether your partner is reliable is the first step in trying to save your marriage. Only if you can rebuild your trust in your partner will the marriage be successful. If you were the one who was cheated on, it can be quite challenging to accomplish this, but time cures all scars. Well, maybe not all, but if your spouse is sincerely sorry for what they did and eager to change, you should be able to rebuild your faith in them.

On the other side, if you were the one who cheated and wish to save the marriage after having an affair. You'll have your work cut out for you. To earn back your spouse's trust, you'll need to put in a lot of effort. Don't just speak about it—do it! If you say you're going to change, then do it. You have to keep your word. Talk the talk as well as you walk the walk. Be real and truthful in all that you say and do, and keep in mind that deeds speak louder than words.

Therefore, you need to cease putting lies in your spouse's head if you still do. Keep all lies to a minimum when speaking to your spouse. You might never regain her trust if your ex discovers your fib. Trust must be completely restored if you want to save your marriage. Although they might begrudge you, your spouse will never forget what you did. Telling those lies will only stoke the fire further. They'll grow to detest you and your ways if you keep doing this.

Do not act like a baby if your husband starts monitoring you. Keep in mind that they have every right to because you were the one doing the creeping. Tell them who you were with or where you were if they start questioning you about it. Being honest with your partner will help save your marriage since it puts them at ease when they know what you are doing whether you are at work or out with friends.

So, if they call, pick up the phone and let them know what's going on. Try to notify your spouse in advance if you anticipate being a little late getting home from work. Don't let it get to the point where your spouse has to phone you to find out why you are still at work, especially if you are already an hour late. Their blood pressure will only increase as a result of this. She will understand that things come up at work occasionally, but if it takes many tries before you pick up the phone, prepare for an all-out battle when you get home.
