For the Precious Smiles
"So there's this NGO that provides the leftover foods to the underprivileged in slums. I talked to our seniors who are already working with them. I'm joining it, are you interested?" He said "We have to volunteer during our weekends" I unenthusiastically nodded yes.

The Refrigerator
The light suddenly came on, and Heinz stood proud and tall, hoping to be noticed, hoping to be the one chosen for the mission, whatever it was. A hand reached in and grabbed a soda, quickly retreating and turning the world dark once again. French’s smirked, “Why do you always think you will be the chosen one, you’re nothing but catsup.” “CATSUP?” I’ll have you know…” Mr. Hunt interrupted, “Excuse me, but I spell my name with a K if you’d bother to read my label, it’s ketchup.” “I don’t care how you spell it,” piped in Lea, “can we return to the subject at hand? We need to ascertain our primary course of engagement in the pursuit of the communal objective.” “Yeah, and we also need to figure out what do next,” added Perrins.

Using fruits and veggies as food coloring is a brilliant idea. Not only does it taste better, but it is so much healthier for you! There are so many harsh chemicals in artificial dye. In some cases you can even taste the metallic and color in some of the foods. Some countries around the world have even banned and outlawed certain colors because of how bad they are for the human body.

Covid Immunity: Follow the Science
Since the beginning of Covid-19, the CDC, WHO, and many scientists and medical doctors have used their expertise to share ways to combat the virus. By now, the whole nation is aware that wearing a mask, washing their hands for 20 seconds, staying six feet away from other people in public locations, and dousing copious amounts of Lysol on their countertops and other surfaces is the way to go. While all these measures are beneficial, how to support and build up your body’s natural immunity to fight against Covid-19 is the one and undoubtedly most important way to prevent and fight against the virus but has been refrained from discussion.

No Waste Kitchen
2020 really did hit most everyone hard. As a Chef. I had already been out of my chosen line of work for a year and I was working in a gift shop when Covid hit and we closed down. I am providing for my two teenagers and had a move looming in my future. My food budget could not exceed 450 a month for the three of us, which is difficult when you have to acquire spices, fresh fruits and vegetables and meats along with dry items like pastas. My son and daughter are not picky, but they are at that age where they put food into a black hole. After my move halfway through the year I focused on not letting anything go to the trash bin unless it was absolutely necessary.

Deliciously Delectable Cakes
France Galette De Rois or King's Cake is a traditional cake usually eaten after Christmas in the first week of January. This is a tantalizing cake that consists of buttery puff pastry layers that have been topped with powdered sugar, wrapping around rich almond cream. During the baking process, the outer layer gets a nice toasted look.

Essential Baking Tools for Beginners
My journey as a self-taught baker has to be one hell of a foodie roller coaster. From uneven layered cakes and burnt bread loaves, yes, we've all been in this position. I love my medium-sized kitchen, but with limited space, a compact living lifestyle is essential.

Drop the BEET!
Let me be honest—I've eaten beets ONE time in my food journey—eleven years ago! A friend of mine invited me to Sunday dinner after church. As his mother serves me my plate, the beets accompanied other Southern comfort foods. The rich hue stains the bright yellow color of the baked macaroni and cheese.

What? White Chocolate Isn’t Really Chocolate
Misconceptions play a prominent role in my view of the world. ~George Soros When researching ingredients for a recipe article I’m currently writing, I came across this mood-altering fact. My precious while chocolate isn’t really chocolate. I’m crushed!

Give Your Salad NEW Character!
Since my teenage years, I was fascinated with salads. Whether it was salads via fast-food chain restaurants or sit down establishments, I loved the combinations of fresh leafy greens, bright carrots, and accompanied proteins and miscellaneous vegetables.

Peanut Butter Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookies
There are times, in every household kitchen, when you are left with the bare minimum. It's usually a box of pasta with no sauce or cheese to go with, a package of ramen, some lentils or rice, and chicken bouillon cubes. But you want something sweet. You don't have much but you do have the basics to make the foundation of a cookie, flour, sugar, baking soda and baking powder, salt, butter, in my case, egg replacer, and some instant oatmeal packets. You remember the articles you read on how instant oatmeal packets aren't the greatest choice to substitute in an oatmeal raisin cookie, but you are willing to defy the odds. It's not for anyone but you so if they turn out badly the trash can will have a nice companion. Without measuring you go to work. You get your bowls all ready. Mix everything together, preheat the oven to 350 degrees, fill two baking sheets and bake for 11-13 minutes. Et Voilà! A new creation you can be proud of and share with others.
