HONEY, Let It BEE...
I've always known honey to be an "old-time" remedy. Growing up, I didn't see honeycombs, how they show in the movies and commercials. My family rarely used honey or sugar because we have unlimited maple sap in our back and yard. Once we take the maple sap to our country store to sift and pasteurize, the dark brown thick syrup was the sweetener for everything!

Themed Cakes
I have never really thought of myself as being artistic. I can’t draw very well and I don’t feel like I’m particularly creative when it comes to visual art. However, When I create a cake for a member of my family a side of myself that I don’t often see comes out. I enjoy doing cake decorations because, unlike drawing, I can make things turn out the way I want them to look. I also find that I have a lot of ideas that turn out really well and end up looking really good.

When in Puerto Rico, Eat Plantains
Growing up in Puerto Rico meant exposure to many, oh so many dishes where the main ingredient was the plantain (plátano in Spanish). You may look at a plantain and think it’s a green banana, and even though they may be closely related, I don’t recommend eating it raw.

Birthday
People grow older by a year, and each year people like to celebrate in some way. Since 2020 a year after my son was diagnosed with diabetes, I have been cautious about what he eats. When I was celebrating my birthday, I bought a small cheap chocolate cake from the store my son was so excited to have—some cake with his mummy, he was so excited to share some cake. After celebrating my birthday, we then celebrated my son's 1st diabetes anniversary, which is also known as a diaversary with a moist chocolate cake. This cake tasted so delicious it was also in a shape of a spiderman head with lots of colours, mainly red, black and white; he was able to take it to preschool to share with his friends, he and his friends were able to have a small piece of the cake each. To celebrate a diabetes anniversary is to celebrate we accomplished the year with diabetes. A few months later, in August, it was his birthday, so we were able to celebrate with candy and his favourite chocolate cake, which we had custom made with Mickey Mouse and his pals. My son was so happy to have a day where we just counted extra carbohydrates to put into the insulin pump; I was able to make it extra special for him by allowing him to go nuts and eat whatever he wanted to eat as it was a once a year thing.

Europe The UK England Bacon Butty is a delectable bacon sandwich that is a taste treat consisting of plenty of bacon between two slices of bread or on a bread roll. Some variations are adding butter, ketchup, brown sauce, or topping the fried slices of bacon with an egg.
