Ready to Fly
My son is currently in Montana at my nephew’s house for a couple of weeks. He is running, lifting weights, swimming, boxing, and shoveling snow (hoping to do some snowboarding too). I have spent my days trying to stay busy so I can distract myself from the fact that he is not here. He doesn’t exactly like to hang out with me when he’s at home (he’s 17 years old), but I know he’s here. On the occasions when he wants to talk to me or show me something I enjoy the interaction.
Living through the Covid nightmare is affecting everyone. Lives have been turned upside down. Many people have suffered heavy financial losses while others have lost loved ones. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been affected by COVID. I am no exception to this statement. Lately I’ve been thinking about the person I used to be.
The Incomparable Judey Kalchik
For my second interview for the “Not My Shoes” game in the Vocal Writer’s Sharing Community I was paired with Judey Kalchik. Judey and I interviewed each other and the results of our interviews will be shared in the group. I absolutely love this game because it gives the entire community the opportunity to get to know fellow creators on a more personal level.
My first thought is that I am surrounded by darkness. My eyes come slowly into focus as I regain consciousness. I struggle to look at my surroundings. At first everything just looks green. As my vision clears I can see Johnny laying a few feet away. He is also trying to get adjusted to our new surroundings. I can hear him moan as he tries to fight through the fog in his head. Then he calls out to me, “Are you okay, Aaron?”
Not My Shoes
As part of an activity created by Courtney Capone for the Vocal Writer’s Sharing Community I had the opportunity to interview Vocal creator Mike Singleton aka Mikey Dred. This particular activity involves pairing participants with a partner and allowing the partners to interview each other. The results of these interviews will then be shared in the group, allowing everyone to learn more about the members as people, rather than just creators.
My Heavy Halloween Playlist
Making a perfect Halloween playlist requires a lot of thought. Obviously the songs should at least loosely follow a Halloween-based theme. I created my playlist with the intention of including a mixture of different artists and different Halloween-related themes. I have to admit that the music I chose for my Halloween party playlist would not appeal to everyone, but I feel like it is well-suited for the purpose of keeping the spirit of Halloween going strong.
I had the same best friend for several years of my childhood. “Mae” lived right across the road from me, so we walked back and forth to each other’s houses all the time. She only stopped being my best friend when she moved away and we lost touch. She was very confident and outgoing and I was extremely shy and introverted, so spending time with her probably made my life a lot more interesting.
