Ugh, is it that day again?
This is for all the singles out there this Valentine’s Day. Take heart. And, yes, I’m married and so, erm, why would I care anymore for those single on Valentine’s Day? Hear me out…

*ahem* Welcome to the time of year that people love or hate. One thing I think most of us can agree on is the absolute cringe factor Valentine’s Day (or sometimes even love in general) brings. Whether you’re single, heartbroken, or just looking for some playlists and memes, you came to the right place!
The Mechanisms
Look no further for your anti-valentines playlist than The Mechanisms, a ragtag crew of immortal steampunk space pirates rattling through space, time, and dimension in their trusty starship Aurora. A musical group responsible for some of the greatest Neoclassical Steampunk Space Shanty music ever created. Together since 2010 they have formed a cult following of adoring fans all over the internet by retelling myths, legends, and classic stories through a lens of queer futurism and dystopian steampunk space travel. "Some say they're from a steampunk future, others claim they're from a cyberpunk past, a few even whisper that they may be from a dieselpunk alternative now." -themechanisms.com
Hairbrush Heartache
As Valentine's Day 2021 approaches, most of us whether we're currently romantically entangled or not, find ourselves looking back to the ghosts of Valentines past. The lovers, not the actual days. If we're honest with ourselves most of the actual celebrations don't make it into the long term memory banks. Then men and women we shared them with however are harder to forget and the songs we blasted in our headphones to drown out the pain of those breakups, well, they stick with us too and when we hear them later in our lives, we're transported to a different time.

It's the time of the year where you fall into one of three categories. You will spend Valentine's Day: with your partner, yourself, or trying to get lucky and spend it with someone 'else'. No matter your goals, it is still unfortunate for all the singles out there to have to swim through the constant reminders of love and relationships. I think it is time to take a break from the constant love songs and take a stand against the soppiest of songs to the hopeless romantics walking through the streets while pulling a piano to sing a song for their loved ones. Enough is enough! I present to you, the Singles for Singles playlist! The top 10 songs that will bury any resentment that Valentine's Day brings while empowering the badass single you genuinely are.

When I was 17 I found my very first true love. He could do no wrong until everything he did had a huge red flag surrounding him. He became abusive emotionally and physically. When you look up the word toxic you will probably find a picture of us. After escaping with just the shirt on my back, I didn't feel normal until YEARS later. Many have gone through this story unfortunately, but if you haven’t but have just had your heart utterly and completely broken, I will provide to you the ultimate heart break playlist.
Post-Break-up-Anti-Valentines
We've all been there. It's Valentines day and she left you all alone. As you're sitting on the can all you can do is think about what went wrong, how good life was just a few months ago, and how soft her skin felt to the touch.

Honestly, I’m not a Valentine’s Day kind of woman. I won’t lie, there was a time when it might have meant something to me. When I fell for the “flawless” romantic Valentine’s Day hype we see in the media. You know, the pipe-dream feeding us the scoop about how important it is to celebrate love on this one particular day of the year. As if those 24-hours could actually determine the authenticity of your relationship. The bigger the bouquet, the bigger the love, right?

It's almost Valentine's Day, and it's time to list the songs not to use when trying to serenade the recipient of your love and affection on this magnificent day.

I've known for a while now that my taste in music is somewhat different from other people around my age. Most listen to modern music and when it comes to songs that are themed against love it's most likely not rock music they are listening to. Classic rock is an acquired taste, I get that. One thing I think many people can agree on is that rock is not a genre that one would find, let's say, "heartbreaking" songs. It's more about rocking out as hard as possible or as ACDC likes to say being "shook all night long."
