*ahem*

Welcome to the time of year that people love or hate. One thing I think most of us can agree on is the absolute cringe factor Valentine’s Day (or sometimes even love in general) brings. Whether you’re single, heartbroken, or just looking for some playlists and memes, you came to the right place!

Disclaimer: These are my own thoughts and song choices. Everyone is allowed their own opinions and music tastes. I guarantee I will forget someone’s favourite, especially as these are abridged lists trying to highlight some underrated songs.

Playlists Highlighted:

  1. Heartbreak Songs To Scream In The Car
  2. Soul Crushing Break-Up Songs You Might Need Tissues For
  3. Boom-Boom Songs For Singles And Couples Alike
  4. Bonus – Lactose Free Love Songs Even Singles Can Enjoy

Let's get to it!

1) HEARTBREAK SONGS TO SCREAM IN THE CAR

This playlist is dedicated to the hurt souls who want to stick their middle fingers to cupid, no matter the reason. Breakups are hard, no matter the circumstances. These songs are fantastic options to play at max volume to try and sooth a broken heart. Make sure you give yourself some time to belt out the tunes before even thinking about picking up your phone to text your ex. (But seriously, don't text them.)

  • Miss YOU! – CORPSE
  • No Scrubs – TLC
  • The Break Up – Machine Gun Kelly
  • Mr. Brightside – The Killers
  • New Rules – Dua Lipa
  • Nightmare – Halsey
  • IDGAF – Dua Lipa
  • Really Don't Care – Demi Lovato, Cher Lloyd
  • no tears left to cry – Ariana Grande
  • Ugly Heart – G.R.L.
  • Best Thing I Never Had – Beyoncé
  • Who's Laughing Now – Ava Max
  • Fighter – Christina Aguilera
  • (I hope you) miss me – Joseph Black
  • 10 Steps to Get over Your Ex – Toni Romiti

Highlighted Song:

No Scrubs – TLC

If you didn’t scream this at least once with your friends in grade school or high school, you’re lying.

No, I don't want no scrubs

A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me

Hangin' out the passenger side of his best friend's ride

Trying to holla at me

Classic!

2) SOUL CRUSHING BREAK-UP SONGS YOU MIGHT NEED TISSUES FOR

Everybody cries. Sometimes you just need to let it out. We’re not here to judge. Go grab some tissues and press play. When it doubt, acoustic versions will get you right in the feels.

  • River Of Tears – Alessia Cara
  • Fire On Fire - From "Watership Down" – Sam Smith
  • Hold Me While You Wait – Lewis Capaldi
  • Robin Hood – Anson Seabra
  • A Drop In The Ocean – Ron Pope
  • Boys Like You - Acoustic – Anna Clendening
  • My Beloved – mansionz
  • end (stripped.) – Jeremy Zucker
  • 3:00 AM – Finding Hope
  • Remember That Night? – Sara Kays
  • Pretty Face – DANA
  • Two Hearts (Acoustic) – Rosendale
  • Wishing Well – Juice WRLD

Highlighted Song:

Boys Like You (Acoustic) – Anna Clendening

So when you hold me, am I the only one?

Do you wanna know me, or is this all just for fun?

Momma said there'd be boys like you

Tearing my heart in two, doing what you do, best

Taking me for a ride, telling me pretty little lies

3) BOOM-BOOM SONGS FOR SINGLES AND COUPLES ALIKE

Because who trusts any of their playlists on shuffle? No judgement, we’ve all been there.

*Anyone under 18 should skip this list

  • Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!! – Vengaboys
  • Pony – William Singe
  • Motivation – Kelly Rowland, Lil Wayne
  • Slumber Party feat. Tinashe – Britney Spears, Tinashe
  • Skin – Rihanna
  • Haunting – Halsey
  • Candy – Doja Cat
  • Slow Motion – Trey Songz
  • Hard For Me – Michele Morrone
  • Bedspell – Zolita

Highlighted Song:

Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!! – Vengaboys

(Yes. This is a meme . . . maybe.)

4) BONUS - LACTOSE FREE LOVE SONGS

Because we can all enjoy a good finger snap and head bopping tune. Love songs can be catchy . . . but none of us want the cheesy ones.

  • It's All Coming Back to Me Now - Radio Version – Céline Dion
  • Accidentally In Love – Counting Crows
  • Faithfully – Journey
  • Listen to Your Heart - Furious F. EZ Radio Edit – DHT, Edmee

Highlighted Song:

It's All Coming Back to Me Now - Radio Version – Céline Dion

If you’ve never belted this one in your living room, you’re missing out. The true, iconic meaning of a power ballad. Go listen to the whole thing now . . . I’ll wait.

It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now

There were moments of gold

And there were flashes of light

There were things we'd never do again

But then they'd always seemed right

There were nights of endless pleasure

It was more than all your laws allow

The MEAT LOAF & MARION RAVEN version is also iconic. You just can't go wrong with this song!

Hopefully these playlists help some you build your own! If not, I hope you enjoyed the read! Leave a comment of any of your favourites I should check out!
