Ru Ru's Tacos and Tequila
The first round of warm sun graced Charlotte three weeks ago, the evidence of Spring in the air illustrated by the little girl riding her bike through the neighborhood. With nothing but shorts and a tank top on, she cycled past me, the sun's rays creating a golden glow on her arms and legs.

The Toxic Cycle of Hustle Culture
Long gone are the days when you can master a trade or a skill right out of high school or college and work one job for 20+ years making enough income to live in a sizeable home while supporting your entire family — feed, clothe, shelter them and afford the luxury of the occasional family vacation — and retire at the age of 65. Those were the days of my parents’ and grandparents’ generation. Not to say that it’s impossible in today’s economy, but it damn near seems impossible.

The Power of Saying "No"
She rolled over on her right side, tugging the blanket over her shoulder attempting to hold on to the last bit of warmth her duvet cover would muster up. She was still groggy and shifting from her trance of sleep into a state of consciousness. She reached her arm over and stretched her fingers along the surface of her nightstand eager to end the obnoxious shrill of ringing that permeated her bedroom. Her hand finally made its way over the familiar curvature of her cell phone and as she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, the room was filled with silence with one tap of her finger. With nothing but the glowy illumination of her cell phone's home screen lighting up her face, the big round shapes of 6:00 was all she could see. She let out a grunt as several dings notified her of emails, calendar reminders, text messages, and missed calls.

I Turned 34 on September 1st
My 34th birthday just passed on September 1st. I wasn't even going to celebrate but my best friend wasn't having it -"You aren't doing anything for your birthday?!"- She booked me a one-way ticket up to NYC and reminded me what it feels like to be surrounded by love.

Inside the Jon Robert Experience
Now that two years have passed since covid-19 first arrived at America's doorstep, it's fascinating to look back on the journey we each took as it changed our lives in one way or another. I'm reminded of how the pandemic has pushed many of us to overcome and achieve as I look back on an interview I conducted with travel influencer and curator, Jon Robert, in 2020 and I am glad to share it with you all -- my readers.

5 Things Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock Taught Me About Self-care
By now, whether you wanted to or not, you must have seen the recent video of Will Smith's apology to Chris Rock for his infamous 'slap heard around the world' that took place at the 2022 Oscars when he took to the stage and slapped Rock in the face after he made a G.I. Jane joke in reference to Jada Pinkett Smith's hair loss, which is due to alopecia.

5 Reasons Why Men Should Invest in Their Skincare Routine
Long gone are the days when men should only use a bar of soap and a few splashes of water to cleanse and nourish their skin and face and get away with having baby smooth, clear skin forever. That may have worked during puberty and early adulthood but as a man matures his skin does too and his skincare routine should evolve and improve. Not sure why this matters? Here are 5 reasons why men should invest in their skincare:

I've Had my First Adjustment at 33
There was a time I thought going to the chiropractor meant your back was so jacked up the only way they could fix it was to crack it back into place. Painful. Agonizing. Expensive. Can you blame me? The first real encounter I had with the chiropractor was a secondhand experience when I was seven. My dad was driving and I was in the backseat as my mom sat in the front passenger seat barely able to move. The flashback of her delicately limping while leaned up on my dad as he guided her through the parking lot is imprinted in my mind. It was like every step she took was her cautious effort not to step on a land mine.

No Shelter, No Peace
In New York City, it is easy to spot them. Whether you step out your front door, walk down a crowded sidewalk, commute by the bustle of public transportation or drive in the luxury of your own car you will pass them by or pause to offer some spare change or a bite to eat. Some will be tucked away in the alcoves of the shadows of towering buildings nestled against tattered cardboard used as makeshift beds, couches, and living quarters covered by newspapers, blankets and sometimes nothing at all but the only clothes they own. Some push shopping carts that appear to be crammed with junk to the common passersby, but for them it is filled with their whole life.

Covid Immunity: Follow the Science
Since the beginning of Covid-19, the CDC, WHO, and many scientists and medical doctors have used their expertise to share ways to combat the virus. By now, the whole nation is aware that wearing a mask, washing their hands for 20 seconds, staying six feet away from other people in public locations, and dousing copious amounts of Lysol on their countertops and other surfaces is the way to go. While all these measures are beneficial, how to support and build up your body’s natural immunity to fight against Covid-19 is the one and undoubtedly most important way to prevent and fight against the virus but has been refrained from discussion.

Jungle Fever in the Concrete Jungle
Location: Gitano Garden of Love - 76 Varick Street, entrance on Grand St, New York 10013 As the sun started to set along the Manhattan horizon on a Mid-September evening, a cool breeze began to kick in indicating that Summer was coming to a near end. I parked my car directly across the street from the restaurant I had plans to dine in and filled the meter for an hour. Being blessed to snag the parking spot that I did on a Tuesday evening in SoHo Manhattan was like finding a unicorn; unheard of. As I made my way to the front entrance of Gitano Garden of Love, the pop-up restaurant along Varick Street, I stood in line with my mask on awaiting to get my temperature checked (Thanks, COVID) and to be escorted to table 205 to meet my friend who was already waiting for me.
