Huckleberries
Summer has alway been my favorite season. I’ve always loved the longer, warmer days and excitement that comes during a time of year when many people take vacations. No matter what I have planned for summer, I always feel like it’s a time when anything is possible.

Amethyst Eyes
Eir was hungry enough to eat an entire herd of deer. He had finally been released from his duties at the palace to get something to eat. His presence at the palace was a waste of time, anyway, during times of peace. However, his father had agreed to a treaty with the human king of the Bruni kingdom. He was, unfortunately, bound by duty to fulfill his father’s part of the bargain.

Ready to FlyTop Story - April 2022
My son is currently in Montana at my nephew’s house for a couple of weeks. He is running, lifting weights, swimming, boxing, and shoveling snow (hoping to do some snowboarding too). I have spent my days trying to stay busy so I can distract myself from the fact that he is not here. He doesn’t exactly like to hang out with me when he’s at home (he’s 17 years old), but I know he’s here. On the occasions when he wants to talk to me or show me something I enjoy the interaction.

Making Changes
Living through the Covid nightmare is affecting everyone. Lives have been turned upside down. Many people have suffered heavy financial losses while others have lost loved ones. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been affected by COVID. I am no exception to this statement. Lately I’ve been thinking about the person I used to be.

The Incomparable Judey Kalchik
For my second interview for the “Not My Shoes” game in the Vocal Writer’s Sharing Community I was paired with Judey Kalchik. Judey and I interviewed each other and the results of our interviews will be shared in the group. I absolutely love this game because it gives the entire community the opportunity to get to know fellow creators on a more personal level.

Treasure Hunt
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. The first line of the sci fi book Johnny loaned me is running through my head for some reason. Darkness surrounds me. My eyes come slowly into focus as I regain awareness. I struggle to look at my surroundings. At first everything just looks green. As my vision clears I can see Johnny laying a few feet away. He is also trying to get adjusted to our new surroundings. I can hear him moan as he tries to fight through the fog in his head. Then he calls out to me, “Are you okay, Aaron?”

Not My Shoes
I had the opportunity to interview Vocal creator Mike Singleton aka Mikey Dred. Mike is an extremely active, supportive member of the Vocal Facebook community and I have actually interacted with him a lot in several of the Vocal Facebook groups, but I really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know him on a more personal level.

My Heavy Halloween Playlist
Making a perfect Halloween playlist requires a lot of thought. Obviously the songs should at least loosely follow a Halloween-based theme. I created my playlist with the intention of including a mixture of different artists and different Halloween-related themes. I have to admit that the music I chose for my Halloween party playlist would not appeal to everyone, but I feel like it is well-suited for the purpose of keeping the spirit of Halloween going strong.
