Tell Me Have You Seen Her?
There are so many songs that have made an impact on my life and one in particular is Have You Seen Her by The Chilites. This was released in 1971 when I was 13 and in the 8th grade. I fell in love with the haunting melody and often cried as the narrator told his sad tale of love lost. Whenever this song came on the radio I turned up the volume and sang along. In December of 1971 I was visiting my great aunt Gladys just before Christmas. Her oldest son, my cousin Curtis came home from the Vietnam war and he seemed to love Have You Seen Her as much as I did. I was listening to the song in my aunts living room on the radio that was attached to her stereo. Curtis had it playing upstairs on his record player and then came down the steps with a portable radio tuned in to the station. Have You Seen Her was coming from all corners of the house.

James Reynolds Makes Black History Celebrates 39 Years on Days of Our Lives
Black History Month February has been designated as Black History month. Unfortunately many Americans both black and white become stuck on the civil rights era and only discuss issues from the 1960s and 1950s. When my youngest son was in elementary school, he had to write a report on an African American who made history. He knew most everyone else would write about Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and they did. My son wrote about Lonnie Johnson who created the Super Soaker but the contest winner was a student who wrote about Dr. King. Lonnie Johnson continues to make history as he just one a 74 million dollar lawsuit against Hasbro, who markets his product. Black History as all history continues to be made and I enjoy putting unsung heroes in the spotlight.

The Evolution of Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a date for sweethearts but that has been changing in recent years. It is becoming a very profitable day for retailers because of single folk as well as couples. In 2019, the National Retail Foundation estimated that two billion dollars would be spent on February 14th, 88 million flowers would be delivered and 8 million pounds of candy would be delivered. A portion of those sales is no doubt from single women who decided to treat themselves for this annual event.

The Deception surrounding being a school cheerleader
When I began junior or high school in seventh grade, Carol was in the eight grade. She was a pretty girl, about 5”7 inches tall slender and popular. She had shoulder length blonde hair and hazel eyes and was a cheerleader. She was actually the captain of the group. Looking back I would say she resembled Marcia Brady from the television show The Brady Bunch, only a few inches taller. I would see her walking through the halls of school with her hair bouncing on her shoulders, often with an enterauge of other cheerleaders with her. I was a shy teen and would imagine what it must be like to be so pretty and popular.

Celebrating half a century of Joy to the World
I grew up listening to Casey Kasem’s top 40 countdown. I lived with my portable radio to my ear as I eagerly listened to my favorite songs. Kasem had a way of making the rise of top 40 singles seem like the greatest show on earth. When songs slid into the top 10 Kasem really had listeners over the moon. Every Saturday afternoon I waited with anticipation to find out if the songs I enjoyed were heading up the chart. One of my favorites continues to be Joy to the World by Three Dog Night. The nonsensical lyrics and the catchy tune would stick in my head and I found myself singing it often. I was 12 years old in 1971 when this single was released and I followed its progress religiously. It was on the group's album titled Naturally.
