Liza SpiridonPublished 2 years ago in PsycheWhy I am raising money for “Young Minds” charity.
It is not a secret for anyone at this point that I feel very strongly about the subject of mental health, as well as destroying the stigma that surrounds it. I mean, it even says in my bio, both here and on Instagram that I am a mental health advocate. And since I started a fundraiser for YoungMinds charity on my birthday last month, I thought this is a good time to elaborate on the subject a bit more. To make it more personal, more transparent. To tell a story about a real life experience.

Reproductive wellness is more than just the health of the reproductive system – it also includes human sexuality! For many folks, sexuality is an essential part of their life and well-being – studies show that many women consider sex important to their quality of life but there are often significant barriers to accessing the resources they need (1).

Valentina SavagePublished 2 years ago in PsycheGoodbye Antidepressant ✌🏾
Hi everyone! :) It is August 2022, and I'm writing this story about my finally getting off psych medication. Just recently, I decided to get off one of my psychiatric medications. The drug that I am trying to get off is called clomipramine. Clomipramine is an antidepressant that I have been taking for two years now. I started it in 2020 and now it is 2022. My doctor told me I can get off of it in two years. So two years are up, and I'm gradually getting off it. I take 200 mg of clomipramine; I reduced it to three pills instead of four pills. I know it may seem like the one I was taking before was a lot, but it truly helped me. I have been on it for two years, and my OCD symptoms have disappeared. I am so glad it is gone, but I wouldn't say it was all to the medication; I would say it was because of the therapy I did while taking the medication that my symptoms disappeared. In these two years, I learned to manage my OCD. The fact that I am writing this story shows I am better. I am better and can help people going through the same things as me. I am so glad I recovered after two years. I worked hard these two years, even with the pandemic happening. My group therapy used to be online, and talking to my doctor on the phone, helped me. Now present day, I am sharing with you guys every step of the way of coming off the antidepressant.
How to Overcome The Stigma Of Mental Health
“Mental illness is among the most stigmatized categories. People are ashamed of being mentally ill. They fear to disclose their condition to their friends and confidants and certainly to their employers”. Elyn.R.Saks.

In today's culture, awareness is spreading. There are many cultural issues that were swept under the rug for decades, and starting with my generation, we are yanking the cover off them. LBGT rights and awareness, mental illness, global warming, and of course, abuse.

The challenges Being autistic has its challenges. It is a fact that we live in a world led by and meant for neurotypical individuals. When you stand out from the crowd, you tend to be the odd one out. Being different is kind of forbidden; it seems to be a bad thing.

I Came Out to My Brother Last Night
I am not shy about telling people I live with major depression episodes. But when the worst symptoms hit, I tend to keep my head down and wait until they pass. Rarely does anyone see me during them. Until yesterday. I awoke with the black sludge already pulsing through my brain and veins, and it took all my physical might to slide one leg, then the other, over the side of the bed. Push my feet against the floor. And assemble my bones and muscles to standing position.

I’ve posted several poems and a story or so but I haven’t said much about myself yet so I suppose an introduction is in order.
