What Would Oprah Do?
A nice Top Story badge for you! And you and yes, you get one, too! Vocal, quite often, often seems to do What ol' Ms. Winfrey once used to. “You get Top Story. So do you!” But wait, hold on there! No, not you! That would give you too much dough There in your wallet, see, and so, You would withdraw that twenty-plus Instead of listening to us. We would suggest you sit and wait And so, we're helping. Ain't that great? Heck, in a year or so, you'll make A dime from Reads and you can take That to the bank, but wait a bit While we make sure that you're legit. When the long wait finally ends, You'll realize we're your best friends. We're only looking out for you And all the other writers, too.

Some People's Kids...
Some People's Kids... I Tell Ya! They grow up so quick. If you blink you might miss it. Some People's Kids... I Tell Ya! I've heard it said you can’t wait until they can walk and talk. Then when they do you can't wait for them to shut up and sit down.

We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident
Some things we just know: if it’s not on the x-ray, there is no pain (the doctors, they tell us so). On the eve of the millennium, the world’s gonna blow, and your body could melt on a high speed train (some things we just know). Smoking eases anxiety, most studies show; women don’t feel desire and babies don’t feel pain (the scientists, they tell us so). Your race and your skull might make you slow; queer identity is a disease in the brain (some things we just know). The earth is flat and off the end you might go; the left-handed man carries a curse like a stain (the holy men, they tell us so). On our passage through time, there’s no need to look below; The wise may be mistaken once, but surely not again. Some things we just know (history, it tells us so).

Dressed to Spark. Top Story - August 2026.
Jordan wore a lovely nylon skirt on the way to the Gala...but the static made the fabric keep clinging to his backside . The synthetic material could not quite agree with the overall behavior of the outfit and his stockings .
