Death is on vacation.

She needs a break from the responsibilities

Her profession constantly brings.

It’s quite the scandal,

But she is resolute.

Death needs life and vibrancy

At least for time.

Something different,

Something new-

So, she goes to the beach.

A beautiful sun filled day,

A strange place perhaps

To find the skulled visage

Yet-

Death is on vacation

And what is a better place for that?

Her robes and bleached bones

Make quite the contrast to the sandcastles

And beach towels.

The children running past kick sand into her face

If Death could smile, she would.

But they do not see the grim creature in their midst.

Because when-

Death is on vacation

No one sees her true form.

As Death watches the joy of the day,

 turns to fear and anxiety.

The waves have captured a child

A life and death struggle.

The beach is full of frantic action

And people not knowing what to do.

The child is rescued but there is no breath

But, just as hope is starting fade-

The child gasps

Yes.

Isn’t it a good thing that-

Death is on vacation?
