Move Over Diamonds, There's a New Best Friend Comin' to Town
Who says diamonds are a girl's best friend and dogs are a guy's best friend? It's time to update that saying. But, yes, I still do love diamonds.
Corinne JenkinsPublished 3 years ago in PetlifeHeather the Hamster
I hate thinking of Heather as being a ‘purchase’. I often forget that I actually paid to have my little friend in my life. If anyone ever asked me ‘what do you think has been your best ever purchase’ I had maybe mentioned a new piece of filming equipment that had advanced my filmmaking or a new book that brought insight to a fictional world I loved, but now?

"Not all Those Who Wander are Lost." -C.S. Lewis I guess you could say I have always been a stray magnet. Even as a very young child I remember feeling an odd, soulful connection to the many homeless wanderers that somehow managed to find me wherever I happened to be. On the swing set in my yard, playing in the wooded area behind our house or just walking home from school, no place was immune to what I believed to be my ability to attract animals in need.

I’ve been thinking about getting rubber soled shoes for our dog. Something to slow her down when she slams through the doggie door at the back of the house when she hears a dog in the front. Actually, I don’t know is she sees, smells, or hears the intruder on the sidewalk because my senses do not alert me to the presence of the four-legged friends, but she always knows.
Brenda MahlerPublished 3 years ago in Petlife10 Life Lessons From My Cat
Cats are incredible. They are elegant, curious, independent, loving, simply magical companions, and they have a lot to teach us. Here are the 10 most important lessons I have learned from my cat, Agata

I remember it was a midsummer day in New Hampshire, The sky was clear and we were on our way to the beach. It was one of the few trips we had gone on as a "family" including myself, my brother Tommy, Mom and her boyfriend Eddie. The first stop of the day was to an open house for prebuilt modular homes. Mom thought it would be fun to look around for a cheap new house despite the fact we wouldn't ever be able to afford one. I understood why she wanted to keep her hopes up though, our house was a beaten down, single wide trailer with plastic sheeted windows and multiple holes in the roof. Locals and family friends had named it "The Hippie Shack".

Adopting a Dinosaur
You know how when you're eighteen and you make dumb choices? Yeah. This is one of those stories I was still a teenager, barely an adult, when I moved out with my boyfriend to a brand new city. For the first few months we lived in someone else's house; a mattress on the floor in the corner, cardboard boxes filled with our meagre belongings stacked against the opposite wall, living off cereal, hotdogs, and Sidekicks noodles.

I knew I wanted to adopt a dog, but I did not think I would be adopting from, of all places, Overstock.com. In 2014 they partnered with local adoption agencies where I found this adorable picture at my local animal shelter.
Amos GladePublished 3 years ago in PetlifeThe Perfect Date Night
I keep reminding myself that it's only a date. I haven't been on many, as the butterflies in my stomach keep reminding. The balmy evening breeze winds its way through the glistening streets, still damp from rain. It tousles my low ponytail, and I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. Despite the warmth, I pull my sweater a little tighter and look your direction, unable to help the smile tugging at my lips.

Beep. Beep. Beep. The alarm blared in my quiet room. I bounced out of bed at 5:30 am, wide awake. It was my first day recording the sounds of the swamplands.
Olivia L. DobbsPublished 3 years ago in PetlifeSwish and Flick: Fascinating Facts About Squirrels (and Their Tails)
I'm an animal lover. I love pets and wild animals. I was a vegetarian for years because of animals. As a child, I loved watching Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel (remember Henry's Amazing Animals?). Years ago, during college, I even started an animal fan page. Unfortunately, as it happens, adulthood got very busy and I left some of my hobbies behind.
Marina FortuñoPublished 3 years ago in PetlifeMy Cats Conducted A Performance Review For My 2 Year Old Son And It Was Brutally Honest
Please take a seat. Thank you for joining us today. It’s been 2 years since you joined us. We decided to forego the performance review in your first year as everyone needed to adjust to your arrival. We have to say that you have made quite the impact here. You have displayed some strengths but also some areas for improvement but, if we’re being honest, your performance has gone downhill since you arrived. In your first year, we appreciated the fact that you kept to your own space as you navigated your new surroundings. But that is no longer the case.
