5 Changes I Noticed in My Dog After Switching to Ollie
Anyone who has ever owned a pet knows that the love and bond between a human and an animal run deep. I have two pups. An older grandpa that has been with me for 12 years, Deaken. The other, a young, hip 8-month old girl that I recently adopted with my boyfriend, Bailey. We (the dogs and I) have come to a mutual understanding that I was brought to this earth to love, feed & play with them around the clock. Being that it is my duty to serve them the best life possible, feeding them the best food possible (now that I understand how important this is) has become a top priority for us.

Have you ever loved pesto pasta so much you named your pet after it? Well that's the roundabout reasoning for my cat, Basil's name. But I like to think it's also short for Basilica, because much like that Gaudian cathedral, he too is unfinished. Three limbs and a lack of one.
The Horizon
The sky was turning pink and orange and purple again, it was her favourite time of day. As she made it to the top of her tree, she watched the colours swirl and kiss the clouds, always in awe of the beauty she got to witness every day.

Working in a veterinary hospital means either having such a slow day that you’re detailing kennels and reorganizing cabinets, or so busy you skip lunch and suddenly it’s midnight - there’s no in between. On this particular day, when I noticed a persistent whining noise coming from a kennel in the hospitalization area, it was the latter. It’s literally my job to keep track of everything going on with any patients in the hospital, so I quickly investigated the source of this noise and found a tiny culprit was causing the ear-numbing sound.

The Station 57 Cat
There was a “meow” coming from somewhere in front of our station. We heard it at random intervals, desperate but also elusive. Two of the Emergency Medical Technicians I work with helped me canvas the area, using whatever meat products we could find in our break room refrigerator as bait. We are situated in a busy area of Brooklyn and there are many feral cats nearby, but none had ever called out to us before.
Nancy GwillymPublished 3 years ago in Petlife How Dogs Have Boosted Mental Health During the Pandemic, Meet 3 Dogs Changing Lives
Since March 2020, most of us have been leading lives of isolation, often struggling with loneliness and despair, but these three at-home-heroes have been making life a little easier for their new found families. Humans have a long-time relationship with the canine species. Affectionately coined as (wo)man’s best friend, dogs have been a large part of our lives for thousands of years. Recent studies published in October 2020’s issue of the Science Journal (Vol. 370, Issue 6516), say that number is over 10,000 years to be exact. It’s clear that we have always valued and understood the many benefits of the human-dog relationship, but now, thanks to this new pandemic lifestyle, we are even more keenly aware of the value of a dog.
