Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
It's Okay to Get Lost. It'll Save You
When I graduated from high school, I thought I had a clear-cut idea of how life was going to be. I'd go to college, meet new people, and come out of my shell. I would ditch the introverted, shy exterior and make loads of new friends. It would be the year I learned to drive and become independent. It would be my year. And in a strange, painful twist of fate, it has been.

Yes I’m an Optimist…but Don’t Blame Me, Blame the Integral!
While I may be a self-proclaimed optimist and the proud owner of an internal locus of control, I maintain that not every day is (or should be) a good one. As Hannah Montana taught us, “Everybody has those days,” when things kind of just suck. But rather than wallowing in misfortune, I find that it’s these times when I most need to remember the calculus I’ve learned.

The Only Thing That Controls You Is You
There was a point in time where I came up with a saying that helped me develop patience, or a better sense of patience; that's a constant work in progress for me. I said this. "There are only two things in this life that I cannot do: I cannot fight God. If it's going to rain, it is going to rain. There is nothing I can do about it, and the other was, and yes this is rude, I can't put brains in peoples heads." I acknowledge, the last part is a bit of a dick statement, but it is also a fact. If someone is going to choose to do something dumb, I can advise against it, but I can't stop them.

Make a Change
Three years ago I left the state of Michigan to go to North Carolina on a family vacation. It was my brothers, sisters, and I's first time being so far away from where we called home. It was full of new surprises every time we would make it into another state. Every year since then I have made a trip down to the mountains, not always for a particular reason but more of a way to just appreciate the scenery.

Interestingly Enough...
So, interestingly enough, it'll run its course. There's not much you can do to stop it from running its course. I'm no wise old woman, but I know life well enough to tell you that problems need to happen. Bad things need to happen. I spent many of my teenage years trying to stop anything from going wrong; trying to stay in my comfort zone and protect myself from the world around me. But it just doesn't happen like that. It's like sitting in the rain but not expecting to get wet, like putting your head underwater and never wanting to come up for air. It just doesn't go that way.

Inspiring Quotes to Reignite Your Motivation
Humor can light a fire under your tuchus just as well as a cat challenging you to, "Hang in there." That's because humor's connection to surprise means we access a point of view we don't already have. Sometimes that point of view undermines the very roadblocks to our motivation. Maybe we're wrong from the get-go to be so concerned about particular goals and values, and you might not know that until someone has made fun of them.

Struggles of Early Adulthood
They say that one of the most transformative periods in your life is that of adolescence. However, I didn't see that as a major turning period in my life. My mom always says, "your twenties are the hardest time." Well, she sure is right. I didn't realise that adulting was so tough. What was worse was coping with shattered assumptions: the world is a good place, we can trust people, people are helpful and kind. Well, these are all generalisations

Smile :)
There is too much negative energy in this world. Even little things can be a cause of major negativity. This is why smiling is one of the best forms of positive energy. Without positive energy, we become negative people, and negative people can lead to the worst things, so here are a few ideas of how to make someone smile, or to make yourself smile.

Is Happiness a Choice?
It's Abbey again, and I had a friend recently tell me that they had never watched the sun set. It was on their to-do list, obviously, they'd just never gotten around to it. It was like I plan to visit all of the 50 states. Well, they plan to see the sunset. Comparable lists, right?

Happiness?
As I've gotten older, I've really come to realise that happiness comes from a lot of different things. For me, when I was younger, happiness would come from maybe toys or playing, then through pre-teen and adolescent years, it came from friends, trying new things and new experiences; but as I'm now approaching my twenties and at the end of my teen years, I've come to realise that sometimes the smallest of things are what make me the happiest.
