No Resolutions for the New Year
New year, new you, new expectations of who you should be. With each year, it is so tempting to make resolutions and promises to yourself of the person you want to become in the coming year. There is a glow of optimism, and maybe a little nervousness. Fitness, career, personal... there is always an area that could be better. We are human.

#NewYearNewMe
Ever since hashtags became "a thing" I've noticed that it's a good way to stay current with news, trends, and just about anything you want to find on social media websites. I used to think that they were irrelevant and pointless, but I've changed my mind over these past few years. They can be used for connecting with similar people, searching for information, or browsing food photos at 2 AM on Instagram. So, when I noticed the #NewYearNewMe hashtag across multiple social media websites, I started browsing.

2019 Is Here. What Now?!
2018 was interesting in so many ways for many of us. Fraught with worry over Brexit, moral panic over our own safety/sanity, FOMO and finances. Even deciding whether to go out and see the friends whose company you crave and yet needing to cuddle up on the sofa and have "downtime." Having that glass of wine to wind-down or gaining a booze-free day, fitting in a workout, answering your WhatsApp’s, counting your five a day, trawling through your emails (and realising GDPR was a bucket of nonsense), wracking your brain for a doable New Years resolution that doesn’t make you feel like a failure. Juggling everything.

Unparalleled Optimism, Not to Be Confused with Denial
I'm not depressed but aware that the clouds, in the sky are just too somber, grey and gloomy. I'm not depressed but aware that I'm just a little tired and tuckered out and whipped out all in one.

My New Year's Resolutions
This upcoming year will be one of the busiest years of my life. 2019 is the year I graduate from university, get my first real (teaching) adult job, and probably a lot of things in between that I'm not ready for and will have to take in stride. With all this above me, I want to write out my New Year's Resolutions. I want to hold myself accountable and reach new heights, be a better me. So here is my list:

Specifically Random Thoughts on 2018
Sitting down and looking at my phone screen is weird, since I can barely use my phone to text people back within an appropriate time. But I wanted to take this opportunity to share my feelings about random and specific things and conclude this brief, but important chapter called 2018.

My New Resolution
Part 1—Introduction My new resolution! I will start out and say that 2018 sucked for me big time. Sometimes if felt it was a shit show of a spectacle. I got out of a long-term relationship. I thought it would be on good terms. Although it wasn’t really mutual, I was under the impression that it was due to time drifting us apart. Later found out he was a liar, cheat and so many other things. That crashed my world. I then became a single parent. Having all those responsibilities on my shoulder was a change and hard. Then I got hurt and wasn’t able to do anything. Good news now is that I am slowly getting better. I felt like I really hit rock bottom and had periods of sadness, depression, and despair.

New Year Renewal
Each year begins in a fallow phase. We greet the new year from the frozen heart of winter. We stand upon the edge of time looking backward over the past year and forward toward the new. For many, the new year represents a time of contemplation and resolution. Many resolve to break past patterns. Others resolve to begin new habits designed to bring more health, happiness, and longevity. We often gather with friends to celebrate this new opportunity to begin again. Some take the time to contemplate both the past and future, to set goals, and to motivate themselves toward pinnacles left to be obtained.
