If you met her, I'm sure you'd hit it off right away since that's how she is with everyone. But, for some weird reason, she always has the worst luck when it comes to finding love.

I got a call one night just as I was about to leave the office to go home. Rachel was the one. I immediately recognized it... the catch in her throat... the pain in her voice.

They'd met at her closest friend's wedding and hit it off right away. He did everything correctly. He brought her lunch at work as a surprise. He called her almost every night. He also organized exciting and romantic dates.

And Rachel felt like she'd finally discovered the love she'd been looking for for so long. This was true until three months later... When something every woman fears occurs... Rachel had no idea why he had become so quiet and aloof, or what she had done wrong.

They used to be nearly inseparable. You could almost feel the flames flying between them.

But now... the unexpected "drop-ins" had vanished. He stopped calling at the end of the night. When she texted him, he would respond hours later with one-word responses. Rachel stayed calm and composed.

Rachel had reached a breaking point after two days of agonizing quiet. Even though she never intended to appear "needy," she left 8 missed calls on Mike's cell phone that night, as well as many texts that she could see he'd read but chose to ignore. That night, she cried herself to sleep. It wasn't until the next afternoon that Mike responded.

She almost let it go to voicemail, but changed her mind at the last second and picked it up.

Rachel wanted to shout, but Mike apologized and explained that he had a lot on his plate at work. He reassured her that everything was OK and suggested they go out to supper the next night at their favorite restaurant. Then he promised to call her the next day to set up a time.
