To Find Myself
To find something, you have to have either lost it, which infers that you had it at some point... or that you should have it because it is yours... or that you didn’t have it, stumbled upon it, and because of this it is now yours. I used to laugh at the idea of someone trying to “find themselves”, that is until I realized that I was lost.

Life will always find a way
For those of you who don’t know, I am in the latter stages of training to become a counsellor. I’ve been at this for about two-and-a-half years now and still have another fourteen or so months to go until I am officially qualified.

To Plant a Garden
Shortly before she returned to London (and before a pandemic consumed the world) my good friend, Sophie, left behind a small trove of parting gifts, including a variety of seeds for me to plant. I was touched by this gift and knew its value, so I set the small baggie in my pantry for another day. Living in the middle of the city, I felt I wasn’t prepared to start a miniature garden in my shared apartment, though I do acknowledge it is perfectly possible.

S.O.S.
My choice for social media account: If you're not following her, do it now!!! Let's begin with the lovely, brave and talented Alicia Cook. Love, it’s multidimensional. And as cliche as it sounds, it really does make the world a better place. I want to talk about the love and bond of sisterhood. I want to show you an account and it’s author, who’s not only been a great inspiration, but her books have been my sober sponsor. Her account has also taught me self love. Her Instagram handle is @thealiciacook. In her career as a writer and activist she shares her own experience with addiction through her cousin, who died because of heroin. Her career is growing fast, and yet she still has time for little me. We became Instagram friends, I read one of her poems and it hit home for me. We talked shortly about my struggle with addiction, I was addicted to prescription medicine and I almost died. Her words were so raw and so full of emotional truth, that it drew me to buying her first two books, “Stuff I've been Feeling” and I “Hope my Voice Doesn't Skip”, both of which I keep close to me. One under my pillow and one on my nightstand. They work as my emotional fire extinguisher! I'm sharing this in particular because, even though it might seem sad, it's truly not! I enjoy her account immensely, it brings me joy because she cares! She inspires me, I haven't had the best life, but I can say with certainty that reading her books has broadened my perspective, love, and friendship. I hope you search for her account, and I hope that she brings you joy as much as she has to me and so many other people. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from her book, "I've come this far on a broken heart-functioning at maybe on a good day, 40% efficiency. So I think you should be nervous about what I'll accomplish once I heal. The mountains I'll move, the miles i'll cover, the skin I'll get under." Absolutely brilliant!!!! This is my mantra!!!! I should be dead right now! If her words don't bring me joy, what else will?! The bond of sisterhood!

Picture The Perfect Life
Have you ever imagined where you would be in ten years? Same. I am 23 years old who graduated college almost a year ago, however, my life is not at all close to where I saw myself being at 23 years old. My 13 year old self, thought that I would be living on my own, have a full-time job, in a happy relationship, and just having the time of my life. Oh, was I wrong. I am currently living with my parents, I have a part-time job, and I have no idea what I should be doing and where I should be going. It does not make it easier that majority of my friends or people in the media who are around the same age, already have their lives figured out and what they want to do. I am in a constant battle with myself of how I should have done this, or I should be doing that and maybe everything would be different and I would at least have some form of comfort that my life is put together. Life has a really funny way of working and I am not quite sure if I could keep up. As the days went by, I would constantly think what I should be doing and how I can do things differently, but I realized, I was doing everything all wrong.

Name(s)
It's quite easy for me to blend. You know, in with everything. What it means to be a fluid energy, is that of a lifetime's worth of self discovering. I'm only 28. I'm in tune with my faith. Quite in tune with myself and the energies that surround me. When the light hits just right, its almost like I can read what is weighing in the air. And no, its not always tension. That was a poor witty attempt at a joke btw ^ I'm sure other empaths of this nature can relate. But I'm not a comedian or anything. I'm just...sharing.

Reasons To Be Cheerful
My Dad Andy, loved listening to Ian Dury, he used to drive me mental, when I was in my teens. He would start shuffling, little pigeon steps while singing Spasticus Articulus, while poking my arm, he still did it when I was in my forties, I miss him a lot. He loved all his songs, I play the CD in my van, it was my Dads copy. I blast Reasons to be Cheerful out, windows down. I can imagine I look like a Mid Life Crisis guy, In my Vauxhall Combo little white van.

Look out the window
It's spring 2020. The babies are hitting the ground running and work is busier than ever despite the situation at hand, all over the world with the pandemic of Covid-19. My parents don't come near us, though we talk each day, and even Daniel has learnt to speak to them through the phone - it's nothing like the snuggles they used to give him, but it's better than no contact at all. If it keeps them safe, and us, then I'm okay with it.

Working, Waiting and Wining
Several times a day, I stand in front of a mirror and examine. I scrutinize the recurring pimples strategically spread across my cheeks, a natural blush from a constantly dirty pillow. Thank God for MAC. I damn the slowly fading yellow stain on my eyeballs. I'll give up tobacco, eventually. The dark bruised skin under my right eye provides character and evidences that nasty fall more than a year ago. What a terrible tumble. My gaze then drops and I behold It, the looseness around my pelvis speaking to my air of just that. Damn... I think I'll have another glass of Cabernet.
