I Have My First Hater!

Here's why I couldn't be more thankful

Up until today, I have received nothing but positive feedback on my mix of inspirational poetry and stories of personal growth.

And I’ve been so appreciative. It’s given me the confidence to see myself actually earning a living by writing one day. To keep chasing my “silly dream.” To believe I am helping people and touching people’s lives in a meaningful way.

But today, as I was checking my notifications for my latest poem, The Mystic’s Dilemma, I had a new experience.

One of the comments was a scathing rebuke of my “well-adjusted” nature. It accused me of being ignorant of the situation in the world and labeled me guilty of “humble-bragging” about my spiritual development.

And I couldn’t be happier.

Because in his words, I see a New World.

I see words dripping with the pain of disillusionment and fear.

I see anger directed at a world that doesn’t make any sense - At politicians and leaders driven by out-of-control egos.

I see a spirit rebelling against insanity.

I see a soul on the verge of awakening.

This world is insane.

It is full of insane egos with insane desires, thinking insane thoughts, and seeking meaningless trinkets.

Only when we become aware of this insanity can we understand the absurdity of it all.

Only when every soul sees itself in its brother, when enough people awaken to the truth, that this world will be transformed into what it’s meant to be.

It is only when people experience enough pain that they begin to believe that there is another way. That there must be another way.

That is when they are inspired to look inside for the answers that they cannot find outside.

It is only through pain that the ego collapses, and the soul is born anew.

That is how it was for me, and that is how it is for all seekers.

“Who is this guy?” Is often asked

By those who see my work

So with my love of poetry

I felt compelled to write in verse

- - - - - - - - - -

Father of two daughters

And a cute quartet of dogs

But thankfully, as of yet

Not a single toad or frog

- - - - - - - - - -

Husband of some 20 years

A lover of Pickleball

But above all else a Child Of God

And loving brother to all

- - - - - - - - - -

A writer of things of spirit and soul

A poet perchance uncouth

A sailor to the call of esoteric lore

A seeker of the truth

- - - - - - - - - -

A fragile and sensitive soul

Creative to a fault

Striving to be a friend and man

Worthy of his salt

- - - - - - - - - -

If fortune was to smile on us

And in good things never lack

Perhaps we could meet one day

Over coffee, hot and black

- - - - - - - - - -

But since that day might never come

(Not knowing how things go)

You may use this link my friend

And offer to me one below!

Have a day filled with wonderment and Blessed Light!

People who leave negative comments often engage more deeply with the stuff than the people who say, "this is great" or "super piece!" 😁
