When we think of summer, we think about sunny weather, swimming, and for some of us a vacation. We think about tanning on the beach, while drinking a pina colada. For some of us though, summer is just a reminder that you don't fit into bikinis like all the other girls. For some of us, it's a time of sweating to death from the long pants and shirts.

A thick, rubbery smell, combined with the unmistakable stench of sweat surrounds the early risers in the UFC gym. A bright red wrestling mat, glistening with sweat, challenges fighters to spar with their coaches as soon as they enter, followed by an octagonal cage, inviting only the daring and fierce to step in. From the comparatively less noisy section towards the left of the cage, float only low grunts and the sound of vibrating weights. In comparison, the right side of the cage houses nearly thirty-five boxing bags and a dozen sweaty, panting individuals. A lean boxing coach enjoys his time advising various individuals by the punching bags; near the weight equipment, a fitness instructor helps people of all sizes perfect their lifting form which contrasts the tall kick-boxing instructor, who brawls inside the octagonal cage.

Obsession: One Key Thing for Achieving Fitness Goals
People who are successful in their field have a big obsession with what they want to achieve. As a fitness enthusiast, I believe that I have made great changes on my goals and become successful at it due to my obsession with wanting a change. However, I am talking about obsession in a way that keeps us moving forward towards our goals and not when it comes down to start controlling our life.

Jennifer CypertPublished 6 years ago in LongevityMy Gym Starter Story
So, as you can tell from the title, I started the gym about one month ago and it has been a big struggle for me. It all started when I moved in with my partner about one year ago and realized that my jeans were starting to get a little tight about six months in, and for the life of me I thought it was because I was using a tumble dryer, so I thought nothing of it and just changed to air drying them.

Alix NicolePublished 6 years ago in LongevityYes, It Is Hard but You Can Do It
Hello friends, fans, and family, How are you doing today? Are you staying motivated? Are you staying focused on your fitness goals? Yes, it is going to be hard and if you are already working out then you know it is hard to do. It is not easy saying no to your friends, telling a close friend that you don't want to hang out with them because while y'all are hanging out you all consume too much alcohol, unhealthy foods, and/or sweets. Every once and a while is not bad, right? The problem with that is you will put pressure on yourself to hang out with them, "like old times," and that will kill your workout efforts because you can't consume that amount of unhealthy foods and/or alcohol and get to the fitness level that you want. Your real friends will understand and support you in your decision. However, this fitness effort will change your life. So, that is why I say it is a life style change and you may lose some friends in the process because you are trying to get to a better fitness level. Even though this effort has nothing to do with them, they may see it as a personal attack because you are trying to better yourself and because you can't hang out as much. There is nothing wrong with preparation and setting goals for yourself. Do your research and know what exercises to do to get to the fitness level that you want to achieve.
Isaac MiddletonPublished 6 years ago in LongevityTough Mudder Tips!
It may not seem like it here in the UK, what with the below freezing temperatures and thick snow fall, but Spring is upon us and that means Tough Mudder season is nearly here! Last year I was booked by Lucozade as one of their Tough Mudder "Made To Move" coaches. My job was to travel around the country with my team of fitness coaches and we motivated and trained Mudders in the thousands. It was one of the best experiences of my life, but I couldn’t quite get my head around why ANYONE would want to actually take part in the event itself.
