Dating (US)
For those of us that are single parents entering the dating world, is a completely different world all together. I wrote this poem that I’m sharing with you after I met with, what seemed like very promising relationships. They started off strong like the poem says the first three days were almost magical. And then insecurities and self doubt set in. We over think everything. I noticed that a lot of the women I talk to will constantly apologize for the very thing that attracted me to them in the first place.

A Woman’s Worth
It’s been a week since I decided to give dating apps a try, so far it has been going pretty well. There is this guy that I started talking to and he seems decent for the most part. We have a lot of thing in common, his name is Steven and he is twenty-three. I know my parents are going to have a problem with his age because I am only eighteen. Maybe they will see that he is a good guy and give him a chance. Hopefully, when I meet him tonight our connection is still the same like it is over the phone. If everything goes right maybe a relationship can blossom between the two of us. That would be amazing, since it would technically be my first relationship. Steven and I can possibly build a long -lasting relationship. I finally, decide to get up from my desk and head downstairs. Once I get to the bottom of the stairs, my father calls my name.

Short Fiction: Blind Date
‘This is a bad idea.’ ‘No, it’s not. It’s just nerves talking. You’ll be fine.’ I watched Raine busy herself, taking several outfits from her wardrobe and laying them out on the silk-covered bed between us. I wished she was coming with me. Up until the start of the week, I’d been adamant I wasn’t going on this blind date she’d set up for me. I’d told her that I was doomed to be single all my life and had come to terms with that. In turn, my best friend had responded with a bemused look and told me it was all arranged. Percy was well aware of my little predicament.
