dating
All about dating. First dates, three years into a relationship, Tinder, and more.
Candy and The Fest
Candy was one of the few people in this world who wasn't a victim of circumstance. Any other girl placed and raised in her panhandle house would be more reserved or less girly. The only thing that seemed to tie Candy to her upbringing was a dusty pair of boots and an affinity for cows.

Grape Reflections
I twisted the silver band around my finger, staring at the glittering gems embedded in the metal. The way they reflected the candle light was mesmerizing, perfectly distracting. Four years ago, I sat at this very same bar, in the exact same corner. I was a different woman then. I had just moved to a new city, a new job, a new...everything. A coworker had suggested they set me up on a date with their roommate. She said he was New York native and I could use someone handsome to show me the city. I had the slight feeling that she may have just wanted to get him out of the house more, but she wasn't wrong. I could use the company. New York City was a big place, and it's even bigger when you're lonely.

Finding Beauty in a Disaster
Refreshing my newsfeed once again, I started scrolling through the same Instagram posts I had just looked through a minute earlier. Then my phone finally vibrates. I quickly open the new message from Cindy, “I’m so sorry Kay, I can’t make it tonight. Don’t miss the fun on my account, I expect a full report later! XO”

A Night Out
There I was sitting in my bathroom doing my best to look and feel like someone who actually wanted to go on a blind date. So far, I was just letting myself down. I so did not want to do this, at all. What had I been thinking allowing Jessie to convince me that this would be good? I was done with men, after my marriage had been such a freaking nightmare, why on earth would I ever put myself through that again? But here I was trying my best to not call this off before it even started.

The Game
The Game Sometimes, when it’s the middle of a workday, you can feel the city’s heartbeat. If you’re looking out onto the streets or pizzerias or square office buildings, you’ll notice the rhythm of the subway tunnels echoing madly under the hum of thousands of footsteps on concrete. If you’re like Lucy, you might find yourself staring at the world from a park café, lost in the vibrations of the big apple’s beehive. When the hums grow louder with as the day goes on, people walk faster and notice less. It’s on days like this, when nobody looks back at you, that you get to stare at them.

Plenty of Friends
I took a sip of my soda, casually surfing the internet. As I perused the latest news stories, I checked my email to see if I'd received anything interesting. Suddenly, I got jolted by a loud pinging noise. It was my tablet computer notifying me about a new message I’d received. Looking closer at the pop up, I realized it was a note from the dating app, Plenty of Friends.
