Heaven, Hell and the Multiverse
The mythology of heaven and hell has often been used in literature as a way to comment on ethics in general. Dante's Divine Comedy takes us on a journey through hell, purgatory and paradise, the most famous of these being his Inferno. Milton gave us Paradise Lost. The satirist Jonathan Swift described The Place of the Damned by its inhabitants including "Damned poets, damned critics, damned blockheads, damned knaves, damned senators bribed, damned prostitute slaves". The poet William Blake wrote The Marriage of Heaven and Hell in which he contrasts the free Dionysian spirit of hell with the authoritarian and carefully regulated, dare we say repressed, heaven.

Movie Review: "Velvet Goldmine" (1998)
I remember watching this movie for the first time when I was about thirteen and thinking it was the best film I had seen in a while. Then I watched it when I was sixteen and thought it was probably alright, but not the best thing ever. Then I watched it at twenty-five and thought it was utter rubbish and now I watched it again recently and just feel sorry for everyone involved. It is actually a really upsetting story complete with a brilliant soundtrack and some pretty good performances - this is a film where the term 's*** hits the fan* goes to the extreme. The more I watch this film the more I understand that its supposed to make you feel sorry for the characters but also, it does not have the same ring to it as it did when I was a young teenager. I feel that there is supposed to be a youthfulness to it that I do not understand as well now that I am older.

What's The Best Moment In The Marvel Movies?
My wife and I recently got done with a massive rewatch of all twenty-seven Marvel movies. Every single one, including stinkers like Iron Man 2. We've also, over the past year, watched all of the TV shows. I feel, shall we say, eminently qualified to speak about them.

The Return of the 'I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast'
The Everyone's a Critic Podcast is going back in time. Back to the time we were known as I Hate Critics. Yes, we are bringing back our original name. Why? Because it just feels right. We want to refresh the brand and with our new additions, Jeff, Amy, and M.J all working to freshen up what Bob and I have been doing for more than a decade now, it feels right to revisit the origins of the podcast. We began the show based on the idea of film fans, Bob and Josh, getting the chance to question, quarrel and converse with a person who had earned the title of professional film critic.

Fredi Washington (1903 – 1994)
“Early in my career it was suggested that I might get further by passing as French or something exotic. But to pass for economic or other advantages would have meant that I swallowed, whole hog, the idea of Black inferiority” (Fredi Washington in the Chicago Defender, 1945)
