Review of 'Carnival Row'
Maybe I'm a sucker of steam punk—I am—but Carnival Row, the science fiction, science fantasy, mystery/ detective, searingly political relevant eight-episode series that debuted this weekend on Amazon Prime, is much more than that. As those adjectives suggest.

Dream Man
They say that the people you see in dreams are the people you have seen in real life, but that only provided a problem for Thomas Sanders. The small town he moved to in Florida knew him as the new guy in town who owned and ran a dance studio. However, Thomas had yet to know if it was safe for him to introduce himself as the new gay in town who owned and ran a dance studio. Over the course of his first few weeks of being in town, he has had dreams involving meeting a gorgeous stranger who was a tad more muscular than him, had entrancing eyes of copper, had a godly jawline, and, in some dreams, showed that he could dance incredibly to the point of making the heads of everyone else turn. Sure, the stranger was stunning, but what made Thomas want to cling onto this dream man was that he made Thomas feel safe and not alone.

Bruce Lee Could Have Mopped the Floor with Somebody Like Tarantino, but Not Muhammad Ali
Okay, the suggestion that Bruce Lee could mop the floor with a guy like Tarantino is conjecture, of course. But it’s not something that a sane person would doubt. On TV shows, in his films, and in the lessons shared with those who studied under him when he was alive, Bruce Lee executed some of the most dynamic displays of martial arts mastery ever witnessed.

Everything You Need to Know for 'Steven Universe: The Movie', Part 1!
If you're like me, you're counting down the moments until Monday night's premiere of Steven Universe: The Movie. I have been waiting for this for months. I've rewatched the entire series a few times. I downloaded the soundtrack on iTunes and have been jamming it repeatedly. I've wondered about this mysterious new villain with the upside-down heart-shaped gem on her chest. I've watched a few fan theory videos on YouTube (and have adopted the one I found most convincing).

30 Books to Read Before You Die (Pt. 51)
I feel like we’re moving quite nicely towards our next milestone, and multiple of thirty, part 60. Now on part 51, I want to thank everyone who stuck around this long once again, and yes, we’re going to say hello to any newcomers. I like to think that some people are getting some good reading material out of this, and that’s why I keep on writing them ultimately. I will probably be here for the rest of my life, but I really don’t know—or I may just stop when I reach 100 or something. In this piece I want to discuss the topic of The Great American Novel. We touched on this a little bit before, but I think I’ve got some new ideas some of you may be interested in.
