Deviled Eggs For Memorial Day
Memorial Day is the key start to the summer for our family. It's the one time each year when we all get together. It doubles as both a family reunion and a reminder of those who have died defending the country.

Exhale, coals burn. Dancing reds twist and turn. Repeat the process. The coals glow brighter, the smoke turns thicker and my eyes are soaked with tears. This is a British BBQ, done the right way.

Summer Camp! Isn't that for city kids? As you might have guessed, Summer Camp wasn't on our to-do list during school summer break. We never went to Summer Camp.
Babs IversonPublished 2 years ago in FeastMarshmallow Memories of Summer
Like the clouds against a clear azure summer sky, Marshmallow Memories look different through the eyes of each of us. My first memories of these fluffy wonders bring my mind to the way my Grandma was the anchor that kept the family together. Every get-together, from family reunions to barbecues in her backyard, would always come back to the meal course that everyone raved about; her fruit salad dessert. Sure, anyone could make it, with all its simplicity, but it was hers. She owned that sweet flavor of canned mandarin oranges and pineapple tidbits, with maraschino cherries scattered perfectly enough to make the thick sour cream smoother, sweeter, and turn it light pink. But the cherries, ironically, were not the “cherry on top”. An entire bag of marshmallows was mixed thoroughly into each batch to make it into everyone’s stored subconscious, that no matter who made it in the future, we see my Grandma’s angel face smiling at us with every bite.

Jennifer DonathPublished 2 years ago in FeastSummer Tastes Like Rhubarb
While living in the tropics, I hunted for what summer flavour I had missed. It did not take long to realize what it was; I was craving the sour-sweet-tart taste of rhubarb. I remember trying substitutes to feed some of that summer craving, passionfruit got close, but nothing tasted like summer. I am in love with the strange, stocky plant. Rhubarb is visually a unique addition to landscaping and flower gardens, with stocks varying from red to pink or spackled to green. While wide varieties are eatable, some are decorative and can be highly toxic, and the leaves are poisonous (but still have some great uses).

As summer quickly approaches, many of us are thinking about eating around campfires, on our patios, or even going over to a friend's house with a bowl of salad to bring with us.
Amethyst ChampagnePublished 2 years ago in FeastThe Hamburger!
The hamburger, an American classic! Let’s face it summers can get hot! Having hamburgers cooking on the BBQ is a must! It’s what summer is for! A hamburger patty crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside, lightly cooked buns to give it that extra crunch, our favourite topping and condiments in between giving it more flavour. We all love the Smokey smell and the savoury taste of a hamburger that has been cooked over fire. BBQing burgers is an American tradition.

“Summer”, is a word with many connotations. For many, summer means s’mores and swimsuits, hot dogs and hot days, fresh fruit and fireworks, and water in any form. For Arizonans, it means clustering around pools and trying to keep cool with buckets of ice and refreshing citrus.
