How To Stay Healthy on a Budget

Frozen foods, making plans, and cooking at homes are the best ways to stay healthy on a budget.

Now that I've fallen head over heels for Chica Reyass, I want my body to be lean and for my coffers to be fat. I need to be able to keep up with someone who regularly does the best core exercises for soccer players, and I also need money a relationship demands! Dating ain't cheap! Just buying her one of the best soccer balls in 2018 set me back $100! So, I need to know how to stay healthy on a budget and stick to it. So much depends on it!

Buy frozen.

If you want to stay healthy when you're broke, then you should be buying frozen fruit and vegetables. They'll last longer and you can stock up on them so that you never have an excuse to not make your own food. Plus, if food is frozen, it's not less healthy than food that's fresh. What's great about this is that if I have enough veggies and sauces in my fridge I can always prepare a flavorful meal for Chica. And then she'll be like, "OMG, Devon is so good. I should spend all my time with him." OMG! Chica already spends all her time with me. Sometimes I don't even know how good I have it. That's why I need to keep my freezer stocked with veggies!

Buy organic.

You can stay healthy on a budget by buying organic goods from farmers who farm organically by lack organic certification. Not having a certification doesn't mean your goods are any less organic; it just means you don't have a certification. Certifications are pricey and mean you have to deal with red tape. Not every farmer is Richie Rich! Farmers markets are a great place to find such farmers. Plus, farmers markets are also a fun place for a date!

Eat soup.

If you start your meal with a high-volume, low-cal soup, then you're less likely to go hog-wild and eat too much food. Plus, you can make a whole bunch of soup at a time for a low cost and just save it. Also, Chica loves soup! She eats it for lunch regularly and orders it when we go out. OMG: I could make a soup that she eats for lunch! OMG OMG OMG!

Bring lunch.

Bringing your own lunch is one of the easiest things you can do that will save you money. Lunch can cost you $10 to $15 per day. That's upwards of $60 a week, $240 a month. Look how quickly you're able to stay healthy just by making one change! That's money I could be saving for a nest egg. OMG: I'M SAVING FOR A NEST EGG! See how important it is to reflect on the direction your life is taking! And, to think, so many people are just wasting money by absent-mindedly spending money on lunch.

Don't shop hungry.

One of the easiest ways to stay healthy on a budget is to shop full. That way you won't be shopping from an emotional place. You'll steer clear of junk food and pricey options. Plus, you won't be hangry and you'll be less likely to start an argument with your sweetheart, which in my case is Chica. I've seen her enough times that I can call her my, "sweetheart." Sigh. No, that's a good sigh! Relationships are also part of a healthy lifestyle.

Eat eggs.

Eggs are an easy way to stay healthy when you're broke. They’re affordable, they’re good for you, and you can mix in other good things into your eggs! Rice, meat, vegetables, fruit, more eggs; anything can be mixed with eggs! Anytime you make someone a great egg dish they are just super happy because they ate something yummy (or yammy if make a lot of tippoes). Then you get to say, “Oh, I just whipped it up,” which is true! Clean up is quick too.

Make your own coffee.

One of the easiest ways to stay healthy on a budget is to make your own coffee at home. It's $4 a pop! That adds if you have coffee every day. Everything adds up. That's how money works! And you want more money so you can do more stuff and feel more secure. That's how it works in America! And you want people in your life who you care about and who care enough about you that you're willing to share your money with them and they're willing to do the same for you! That's what we all want in this world! Someone to share our money with. SO SKIP THE COFFEE!

Buy whole foods.

If you buy your foods unprocessed, you're going to stay healthy while on a budget. A block of cheese is cheaper than shredded cheese, a head of lettuce is cheaper than shredded lettuce, canned beans are cheaper than refried beans, etc. Plus, whole foods are often sold in bulk so you get more bang for your buck. You want to save as much as possible so that you can actually buy the best mattresses on the market to help you sleep better! I know Chica would appreciate that.

Shopping Lists

Planning your meals in advance is a great way to stay healthy on a budget. Once the plan is made, use that plan as the foundation of your grocery list. AND STICK TO IT! The plan is not a set of rules to be broken. This isn't Bad Boys II starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence (or a more current reference). You're not Mike Lowrey; you're a dad trying to stay fit and healthy. That also means checking your fridge and cupboards so that you're not buying stuff you already have (as opposed to taking on crime syndicates).

When you shop, don’t wander far beyond the outside of the store because that’s where all the processed foods are. Instead, make produce the centerpiece of your meals, even if a protein is going to be a part of dinner. High-quality proteins are the most expensive thing you can eat!

Buy in bulk.

One of the best ways to stay healthy on a budget is buying food from a bulk buying club. Just make sure you buy healthy stuff in bulk! If I always have the healthiest items in my home, especially ones that Chica likes, then the level of comfort she feels at my place will be enough for her to just want to hang out with me when she's not even doing anything. Just like Lawrence's "Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me?" She could come to my place just to read and hang out all because I bought healthy stuff she likes in bulk. I'm sticking to my shopping plan at the store and my romantic plan out in the world!
