racial profiling
Racial profiling in law enforcement is a deep-rooted issue with far-reaching ramifications; voice your take on 'broken-windows' policing and controversies surrounding race and crime.
This Skin
I once had a conversation with someone about whether or not we were pro-black. Our race does have a lot of work to do to heal ourselves because nobody else will do it for us. But when it comes down to it, I know for a fact that I'm pro-black. Not anti anything else. Just pro-black. I want what's best for us an entire race. I have no shame in that. Other cultures can stand proud in who they are, and we don't just have that right. It's a necessity. We have to build each other up and work together.

“There was an effort to make this election about one big case involving a celebrity. The voters have overwhelmingly put that fallacy to rest.”

This is a letter to the ones who keep letting things like this happen. I'm not trying to preach, and please don't think I am rapping. I'm just tapping into your mentals to make you aware. Because it seems like the government officials don't even care. Too many lives lost at the stake of the ones who were sworn to protect us. Instead the murder our sisters brothers like they want to eradicate us. I'm not saying they are all bad, this is for the ones who are. I don't see how you have it in you to kill a little boy who isn't even armed. A man trying to get to his car, or tavon Martin trying to get home out of the dark. So many lives lost from unpunished crimes by law.

The viral video of a white, solidly middle-class, University of Utah Hospital Head Nurse, one Alex Wubbels, being manhandled and thrown into the back of a police car because she refused to comply with a Salt Lake City cop’s unlawful order is only the latest confirmation of black peoples’ centuries-long complaints of police brutality.
HERBERT DYERPublished 4 years ago in CriminalThat time my door was kicked in
Hey, On January, 3rd 2010 someone kicked in my front door had for what? I have no idea. Me and the wife was had just went to bed around 3 ish in the morning, kids were sleep in the room at the top of the steps. “BOOM” then I heard a voice yelling “HELLO” as I jumped out of bed and headed downstairs. The front door was on the floor, I’m inspecting all areas downstairs and in the basement to make sure the assailant wasn’t still in the house. I go to the front door and someone yells “HE WENT THAT WAY” as if I was going to give chase with no way to protect myself. Shit! I was just happy it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been, because that shit could’ve went left. So I leaned the door up against the door way so that people who’d walk pass wouldn’t just be able to look right in. The cops arrive, SMH I hear them yelling “Philadelphia Police” I go to move the door and it’s six police officers in a line with guns drawn, at this point I’m scared to death.. My heart’s racing, I’m sweating and I can’t breath. The police burst in the house pushing me on the wall gun to my back and I’m like were the ones who called you about what just happened. The officer replied “Do you live here?” I look at him with a look of disgust, the kids on the steps crying watching what was going on in the living room directly in front of them, my wife crying like “WE CALLED YALL” Offficer replies “I need some I.D”

The life you save may be your own if you want your life. Surprisingly, a Pennsylvania man tested the men in police uniforms by taunting and running away from them. While (of course) the footage failed to convey the beginning of the incident, it is a relief that this scene did not end with gunshots between the alleged perpetrator or the cops. In the video, the man is seen “squaring up” with cops after the policeman allegedly cold-cocked the man in the face. Supposedly, the man received the taser treatment. From Eric Garner to Tamir Rice to Michael Brown to Freddie Gray and so many others, the black man seems to be a target in the United States. However, if it is true that the unidentified man, black, white, red, brown, or yellow should have met the cold hand of justice from the start with an arrest.

Netflix premiered When They See Us, on May 31st. This story based on true events from 1989 was written and directed by Ava DuVernay to describe the injustice of five young boys from Harlem. With just four episodes, she conveyed the time period and torment that shattered the innocence in these young men, and the broken justice system. The Central Park Five case was not commonly discussed, and may not have even been known to this generation. DuVernay broke exposure to these men's stories, and how a night out in Central Park became the worst night of their lives.
Skin Color Is NOT "Reasonable Suspicion"
Racism has turned the world upside down. For years African Americans have been targets of violence and oppression simply because of the color of their skin. The world has seemingly turned a blind eye to it, as racism is still a broad subject matter today. Despite the various “attempts” to make Blacks equal to Whites, the fight for equality still stands strong today. In this article, we will cover the topics of Racial Profiling, Police Brutality, and explore the activist group “Black Lives Matter.” This article will connect all three topics to show the injustice in this country towards African Americans. It will also emphasize that under no circumstance is skin color ever reasoning to suspect someone of criminal activity.

I was visibly upset. I was shaking. With every letter I typed on my phone, I had to erase because I managed to make some sort of error. Although I was upset, I stayed glued to all social media outlets discussing the case.
