Venture Through Time: A Melodic Achievement Playlist
Making a customized soundtrack to my life is an overwhelming errand, as music has been a particularly vital piece of my excursion. There have been minutes where I ended up speechless, yet a tune has had the option to communicate precisely the exact thing I was feeling. In this playlist, I desire to share a portion of the vital crossroads of my life, alongside the music that has gone with me en route.

From the Old Days to Tomorrow. Runner-Up in Melodic Milestone Playlist Challenge.
My earliest memories of music nearly all take place in the backseat of my family's old minivan. It was pretty much the only place I could listen to music at the time. Sure, I had a CD player at home, but I didn't exactly have CDs to play in it. The radio in our car was where I got to hear all my favorites and any new songs that Radio Disney was playing. I still remember the first time I heard Taylor Swift's "Teardrops On My Guitar" on Radio Disney back in 2006 (maybe 2007, now I'm not so sure). It was in our van, of course, and then the entire week or so after, that song was all Radio Disney would play. I knew it by heart by the third go around.

Metal for Calm
So, a little backstory. I used to listen to “oldies” or music from the 50s and 60s when I was younger despite growing up in the 90s. I started getting into metal and rap when I was older, as it was more relatable at that time. Though I still appreciated older music. Now, I appreciate all music, but have made a list of what I think are the most relatable (and awesome) metal songs. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Oldest Song Ever
The oldest song in the world is a matter of debate among historians and musicologists, as there are various theories and claims regarding the origins and age of music. However, based on available evidence and archaeological findings, the oldest known song that has survived to this day is the Hurrian Hymn no. 6, also known as the "Song of Seikilos."

BEAT OF LIFE
Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Jake who lived in a small town in the countryside. Jake had always been fascinated by the sound of drums and the way they could make people dance and feel alive. As a child, he would bang on pots and pans with wooden spoons, pretending they were drums. His parents, who were not very supportive of his interest in music, dismissed his passion as a passing phase and insisted he focus on more practical pursuits like studying for his exams. But Jake couldn't ignore the beat of his heart that pulled him towards music. Whenever he heard the sound of drums, his hands would instinctively start tapping and his feet would begin to move. So, he started taking drum lessons in secret, using money he had saved up from doing odd jobs around the town. As he grew older, his skills improved, and he started to perform at local events, including school fairs and town festivals. People were amazed by his talent and energy, and soon he became known as the "Drumming Wonder Boy" in his town. Jake knew that drumming was his destiny, and he was determined to pursue it, no matter what anyone said. He practiced for hours every day, constantly seeking new rhythms and styles to learn. One day, while practicing by the river, Jake met an old man who was playing a traditional African drum. The man noticed Jake's talent and offered to teach him some new techniques. Over the next few weeks, the old man became Jake's mentor, teaching him about the different rhythms and beats from around the world. Jake's drumming skills continued to improve, and he started to perform at bigger events and festivals in neighboring towns. He even won a scholarship to study music at a prestigious conservatory in the city, where he met other talented musicians from around the world. Years passed, and Jake became a renowned drummer, traveling the world and playing with some of the biggest names in the music industry. But he never forgot his humble beginnings and the people who supported him along the way. Whenever he returned to his hometown, he would give free drumming lessons to kids, encouraging them to follow their dreams, just like he did. Jake knew that the beat of life had led him to his destiny, and he was grateful for every moment of his journey.

Mental Health Rocks
Mental Health Rocks We attended a powerful rock concert this weekend, April 30, 2023, in Minneapolis, MN, where proceeds from every ticket sold were donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Each of the three groups offered their take on the theme by speaking about the importance of recognizing and acknowledging mental health and performing their songs based on it. From depression to anxiety to suicide, and everything on the spectrum, the impacts upon society are huge. I attended the show fully expecting to be entertained, which I was, but I also came away with a deeper level of respect, and a desire to understand why the issue of mental health is such a strong motivator for them. It seems that they have felt the impacts of the issue greatly amongst family and friends.
