Baby's Night OutTop Story - September 2023
**This story contains a mention of pregnancy and childbirth.** I just dropped my kid off at something called ‘Parent’s Night Out,' hosted by our Karate dojo. My husband is with his friends at their annual all day game we affectionately refer to as ‘all gay dame.’ So I have the night to myself. It occurred to me that I could use a clever title for my little solo excursion. My buddy Malinda offered ‘baby’s night out’ and I think that fits. It implies wandering in a childlike state of exploration for the simple pleasures in life. A rare treat for a mama with a nine to five and a husband who works most nights and weekends.

My First Foray into Publishing Short Stories Online
First let me admit that I have a terrible memory. Because of my anxiety, my mind loves to focus on awkward and painful memories. The failures instead of the triumphs. How far back should I go? My elementary school scribbles were just glorified spelling and penmanship exercises. I mostly remember the short stories and essays I wrote for my advanced placement English class in the eleventh grade.

How ‘The Rules’ Gave Me Better Self EsteemTop Story - August 2023
When I was younger I had problems getting dates. I kept watching everyone around me coupling up and it made me feel like there was something wrong with me. I’m kind of an open book when it comes to my feelings, so my friends and family would often see me moping about it. They’d dispense advice like that old Supremes song. You can’t hurry love…

Why the Deserts are Dry
There was once a pantheon of gods and goddesses, celestial beings who shaped the universe as we know it. Each was assigned a planet to design. They all had their own aesthetic when it came to color, texture, and form. Some created mighty gas giants with harsh swirling hostile environments, impossible to inhabit, but so impressive to behold. Others favored stillness and silence, not unlike the vacuum of space itself.

But Can A.I. Do This?Top Story - August 2023
Artificial Intelligence is a hot topic. For industries it’s an asset that can get the job done faster and cheaper than any human can. For the workforce, it is a threat to our jobs, of course. Back when A.I. was only science fiction, we believed machines would take care of the dangerous, difficult, tedious and mundane jobs so that humanity could relax and spend more time creating. Sadly, this is not the case. A.I. has an increasing presence in the arts and entertainment industries while us humans continue to toil.
