Les Miserables
Tim Rasmussen’s whole project [PopViolence the podcast, which can be found on Instagram, spotify, generally around the internet] makes me happy. The guest on this particular episode, Lindsey Acker makes me even happier! I’m privileged to be living in the same general area at the same time as them. We seem to be drawn to some similar ideas, and I enjoy seeing their posts. I’m simping. This is a brilliant analysis, and as a person that has loved Les Miserables since childhood (there was one month that I watched it almost nightly) I love this lens.

Dickinson, First Aid Kit
Disclaimer: I kind of hate poetry. I don't know much about Emily Dickinson's work or her life, and I've only watched the first few episodes of Dickinson on Apply TV+, but I have felt her work the few times I've come across it. I watched those episodes a few months ago. I'm over the issue I had with it the first time, I'm getting back into it.

Routines
Lately I've been thinking a lot about my younger self. For the past year, healing that child has been my priority. I want to honor that most people around me thought I was a generally happy kid. I think of this as getting the not-fun stuff down, so I can honor it as truth but move on. It's been a bit of a theme for me lately.

My new favorite movie
I'll put the spoilers after a big warning, in case you haven't seen the movie. Okay, diving right in. Suzy's family has traditional likes and dislikes, it looks like a quiet house with well-behaved children. She has a cute pair of binoculars that she often wears. The mom and dad seem to be in their own world, leaving Suzy in charge of all her siblings. Maybe not formally in charge of them, but they look to her on matters of well-being. They are lost in ping pong, records, or books much of the time. The mother seems to be in a shell of shame. The dad, played by Bill Murray, is doing his own thing most of the time. The mom literally pulls out a megaphone to get his attention, cute but telling. It seems like Suzy is emotionally abandoned, as well as her mother's primary emotional support.

This is as simple as it gets
The only cure for your anxious mind is solidarity. This is a summary/review of a new podcast I came across, The Entry Level Left Podcast. I’ll link it at the bottom. After only hearing the first episode, I am hooked. *note: the first episode was re-recorded. I listened to the newer version, not the original.
