How I Overcame "Middle Child Syndrome"
It’s true what they say about being a “middle child”. We’re overshadowed by the strong will our older siblings sustain, and are dulled by the light the “baby” of the family radiates. In my situation; my older sister was the star of any sport she played- running with the popular crowd, and confidently guiding herself through upcoming adulthood. Being only 15 months apart in age, and with her birthday being late in the year- we ended up in the same grade throughout school. Which made me less of my own person, and more of “(sister’s name) sister”.
My Review on 3 Meal Kit Delivery Services
I once read a quote that stated "Weight loss doesn't begin in the gym with a dumbbell; it starts in your head with a decision". With the constant temptation of fast food, and an endless array of snacks, candy, ice cream, and soft drinks to choose from- I had fallen victim to the American trap of eating unhealthy but tasty, cheap, and large portioned meals.
My Experience on Being Openly Gay in the Workplace
I would like to think of myself as a genuinely happy person- or at least tell myself that’s what I am. Throughout my life, coming out, was a fairly easy process for me. I wasn’t judged, I was completely accepted by my family and friends, and I found myself proving to those against the LGBT+ community that we’re just people who love people.
Save the Ocean
David Attenborough states on his Netflix documentary “A Life On Our Planet”, “The living world is a unique and spectacular marvel, yet the way we humans live on earth, is sending it into a decline- human beings have overrun the world”. With a current world population of 7.8 billion people- it’s no secret that humans benefit (and continue to benefit) from destroying entire ecosystems. Our carbon footprint is as high as it’s ever been, sitting at 415ppm; warming our planet at such an alarming rate, that the damage will have unforgivable consequences. With our oceans covering 71% of the planet- one might think that it’s vast enough to endure cruel human treatment; but in 1998, film directors of “Planet Ocean” noticed the bleaching and death of entire coral reefs- and soon realized that the rise in global temperatures is being absorbed by the ocean, and that the ocean is dying.
Bring Religion Back: The Answer to All Our Problems!
I’ve never been a religious person. Even when I was little enough to be open to the idea of religion, I could remember sitting around thinking about how “ridiculous” the Bible sounded. MY heart somehow always knew that religion wasn’t where I was going to put my hope and faith, and I would learn later in life to put all that hope and faith into myself; God's not going to build me.
Being a Dog Mom Changed My Life
After debating whether being a full-time college student, part-time worker, and a full-time social butterfly would leave enough room to be a proper "full-time dog mom," I took a leap of faith into what I felt like was actual motherhood, and ended up adopting (I recommend adopting from your local shelter) an animal who has seemed to rescue ME more than I have rescued it.
Tinder Matched Me with a Drug Dealer
After being named the "world's hottest app," having 100 million downloads, and the fact that it's considered the "#1 grossing lifestyle app," I'll admit—I was sold on installing Tinder to "find friends, dates, relationships, and everything in between." As a matter of fact, being a member of the LGBT community, dating apps have been one of the many ways I've met long-term friends, whom I was once matched with—and after a bad breakup, I was ready to get back out in the dating field. Ultimately, there's nothing like swiping right on some stranger 20 miles away, only to find out that "You're a Match!"
5 YouTube Channels You Have to Watch
So, once again, you've found yourself in the classic "I'm bored" situation. After already binge-watching shows like: OITNB, Grey's Anatomy,The Walking Dead, Shameless, AHS, and other popular series; "What's a new Netflix series I can watch?" "Does anyone have any Hulu suggestions?" and "I need a new movie to watch on Amazon," have become some of the most popular phrases today. However, why stick with popular internet streaming software, when you can fall in love with real "characters" and channels on YouTube? With most YouTubers making weekly content, people who watch YouTube videos AND keep up with channels, can easily pass hours of time—at the cost of nothing but their boredom. So, here are five channel suggestions to start you off on the right binge package.
I Took a Pay Cut to be Happy
The first job I ever loved was the only job I applied to where I said to myself: "I really hope they don't call me." I was hired the summer after high school to make sub sandwiches, and clean dishes, starting out at about $7.50. With my performance being a smidgen below average, I was labeled as: quiet, slow, too nervous to speak to customers, and too shy to interact with coworkers; it wasn't until one of the girls that worked on morning shifts said: "Hey, I wanted to let you know I heard people saying if you don't step up a little bit, they're going to let you go." Then I really started applying myself in all the tasks I was given.
