Here's to Forever
It was a hot, August day in Sevierville, Tennessee and as I got off the school bus, and walked up to my front door, I could already hear my parents arguing. I opened the door, let them know that I was home, and quickly went to my room. After I put my stuff away, I tried to work on my homework, but ten minutes later, I decided that I needed to get out. Not really sure where I was going, I started walking aimlessly around my backyard, but I soon found myself heading towards the woods. I suddenly wanted to go exploring. I’d lived here my whole life, but I’d never gone into the woods because I was scared, but I guess being completely overwhelmed by your parents arguing can make you seek solace anywhere, even the places that scare you the most. My parents didn’t fight often, but when they did, it was loud and messy. It didn’t used to bother me, but for some reason it did this time.

There Is Not a Single Doubt Whether, She Is the Glue
There are many things that make my mom a boss. She is loving, kind, generous, strong, courageous, steadfast, etc. She’s been through so much and has overcome. My mom not only lost her brother, when he was just nineteen, but she also lost my brother Justin when he was nine. Her mother also passed away from breast cancer, and she, herself had stage four colon cancer and had to go through surgery, chemo, and living in fear that it might return. Life hasn’t been anywhere near easy for her, but she still pushes on. I admire my mother for these things and for many others; however, something that I’ve always admired about her, that I’ve never mentioned to her before, is her hospitality.

These different sides of you may come across in a way that screams “Two-Faced,” but if people knew the story of your zodiac symbol, they’d understand. Thrift Booking and the Environmental Impact of Print Books
For as long as I can remember, I have never had an issue with “hand-me-down” clothes or clothes bought at a thrift shop. Not because I was thinking about the environment, but because I hate shopping. If someone gave me clothes that they no longer wanted or needed, I was ecstatic. They were new to me and free and I didn’t even have to leave my house to get them. As I entered my 20’s though, I started to be more environmentally conscious. I started recycling and began to want to live a more minimalist lifestyle, but I wasn’t to the point that I was researching anything or realizing just how big of an impact I had on this earth. I knew about carbon emissions and our carbon footprint and climate change, but I never looked into just how much of our things end up in landfills or in the ocean and how those affect ecosystems, our water, the air, etc. In fact, it wasn’t until recently that I started researching these things and I’ve never been more grateful that I never cared much about whether my clothes were brand new or not. However, although I thought about writing an article on thrift shopping and the environment, I decided that I wanted to dive into a part of thrift shopping that we don’t often hear about, and that is thrift booking and the environmental impact of print books.

Teen Angst Playlist....Adult Angst Playlist....Same Difference
Ah, the teenage years when you feel everything deeply, take everything personally, think everyone is out to get you, and hide yourself away in your room because no one understands you. Those were the days….Not! For most of us, our teenage years consisted of us feeling misunderstood, underestimated, invincible, and alone, so we turned to music to get us through love, life, heartbreak, depression, and anxiety. It was a rough time in our lives that is vividly remembered and, for some of us, like me, this time period still shapes our musical choices even to this day. Being a teenager was hard for everyone, but, for me, it was a nightmare, and this playlist played a huge role in keeping me holding on! However, there are a few that really spoke to me, so I’m going to highlight those specifically, and give you a glimpse into my past. So, go ahead and go to your room, put on your headphones, listen to these masterpieces, sing your heart out, relive your youth, and be prepared to cry, because it’s going to happen.

The Way to My Heart is Through Music
For as long as I can remember music has played an important role in my life. I actually wrote my first song when I was five and I’ve been writing songs and poems ever since. I connect with music in a way that I can only describe as spiritual. It absolutely moves me, not just the lyrics, but the music itself. I am fascinated with the different songwriting processes and how everything comes together. The show SongLand is one of my favorite shows and my favorite movie is Music and Lyrics. Music is in my blood, without it, I don’t know if I would survive. In my darkest moment’s music was a lifeline, in my happiest moment's it allowed me to open myself up completely and let loose. It has also helped my anxiety immensely. When I’m anxious, and I need to calm down and find peace, I’m not one who finds comfort in ocean sounds or the compositions of Mozart. Instead, I gravitate towards, and lose myself in, songs that have beautiful and soothing music and have lyrics that take me someplace else and get me out of my head. It doesn’t matter what the genre is, as long as it comforts me and these songs do just that.

Dear Mom, if I Had a Million Dollars I Would Give Them to You, but I Don't, so I Decided to Write You This Letter Instead
Dear Mom, I want to start this letter off by saying thank you. Thank you for being an amazing person, mother, and friend. Thank you for always loving, encouraging, and supporting me. I am who I am today because of you. I know I tell you these things pretty regularly, so I want to use the majority of this letter to focus on some things that I don’t often mention. So here it goes…..

Taurus: The Wandering Bull
To be honest, I’ve never put much stock in astrological signs, horoscopes, psychics, or fortune cookies, mainly because they are rarely accurate, but I still find them interesting. I’ve known my sign for awhile now, but because I don’t believe in astrology, and also because my signs horoscope has never been right, I never looked any further into it. However, whenever I came across this prompt, I figured I’d take a look and see if there was any merit and I have to say I wasn’t impressed, especially since every site said something different. However, I continued and decided to go with the first site I looked at to base my views on and this is what it said.

I'm Dreaming of a Green Christmas
I wish I could say that I was mindful of the environment when I was younger, but I wasn’t. I honestly didn’t even think about it. However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to think about it a lot and have tried to make some changes. I’ve noticed that the older I’ve gotten, the more minimalistic I have become and the more aware I have become of my impact on this earth. It hasn’t been easy and I’m far from perfect, but I still try to do my part. If you want to do your part too, three of the easiest ways are the one’s we’ve been hearing about for years: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Below are some ways to put these into action this holiday season.
