Tattoo of a Flat Line
Every tattoo has a story. Whether it's the meaning behind the tattoo or the experience of getting it. I've gotten a tattoo in the back of a bar, I've gotten poked with a needle and a chopstick by my best friend, I got a tattoo on a trip in Israel. I love the aesthetic and the memories associated with each one. And although there is a story for every tattoo I have, here's the story about the first I ever got.

Life as a professional photographer and videographer leads you to some breathtaking places. Between the scenery, charismatic locals and mind-blowing restaurants, it’s hard to pick my favorite part of traveling for work. On the other hand, it’s easy to pick my least favorite part: bedtime. Waking up early and carrying around cumbersome equipment all day translates to a sore back, legs and body all night. It’s hard to stay mad when you’re in places like St. John and St. Thomas (my most recent destinations) though, so I just counted my blessings (and some sheep) and dealt with it happily.

Taste and smell has the ability to bring you right back to a specific moment in time. It triggers your memory and lights up your senses to bring you comfort. Or it can trigger bad memories like too much Jose Cuervo in college...still can't drink it to this day. On a positive note, nothing reminds me of Switzerland like rosti and eggs, croissants with nutella and hot chocolate. Nothing reminds me more of Barcelona than a ham and cheese on a croissant and wine cheaper than water. Nothing reminds me of Turkey like simit with honey and butter and the vast tables of mezze with raki. Food had the ability to teleport your mind to different places. For instance Balthazar's bakery in New Jersey has an amazing ham and cheese croissant. If you warm it up, close your eyes and take a bite, it tastes sitting outside a cafe in Spain. This is a feeling everyone is familiar with and if you're not sure you know it watch the movie Ratatouille.

I Just Want a Damn HugTop Story - May 2020
Today is May 14th 2020; it’s my 28th birthday. While most people seem bummed about their birthday falling during the stay at home order in New York City, I am happy with it. Of course there are things I would rather do and places I would rather be, but I assume I will never have a birthday like this again and that's what makes it memorable. Much like the symbolism of a birthday - another spin around the sun, time passing - I know this time will pass and we’re getting closer to that day.

Sam Keller: Empowering Women Through The LensTop Story - April 2020
Sam and I met on a nature walk with friends in Boulder, Colorado by Lake Wonderland in the spring of 2014. She was shooting with a Yashica 124G using infrared film. We bonded over cameras and each other's photos on Instagram. Sam always has her style and aesthetic on point. She has become such an amazing photographer and powerful business woman, capturing stunning images of strong women. We reconnected last year when she moved to NYC and have since worked together on awesome projects, including the latest one she brought me into with Milk XYZ. Sam took photos and I made a behind the scenes video.
