The Era of Open Racism and Prejudice
You see, the United States has a long history of racism, first involving the early settlers and the Native Americans. Racism serves no purpose other than belittling somebody. To demean somebody different from you deliberately is wrong. How many times have we tried to eliminate our racism as a species collectively? None. We have leaders that come every so often to help us like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. or President Barack Obama but we do not learn from their teachings. And in modern times, we have Meghan Merkle marrying Prince Harry.

An African American man named Gregory Vaughn Hill was shot and killed four years ago after playing his music loudly in his own garage. While Progressives will want you to believe that’s all there is to the story and the man getting shot was proof of racism by cops and Republicans, that’s simply not the case at all. In fact, not even the jury’s decision in the man’s wrongful death lawsuit case wasn’t racist.

Important Organizations That Help Immigrants in the US
In the wake of the news that the Trump administration had been separating immigrant children from their parents as they crossed the US's southern border, many people found themselves asking, "Did the Trump administration separate immigrant children from parents and lose them?" Outrage followed on social media, but so did solidarity.
Ben KharakhPublished 6 years ago in The Swamp Samantha Bee Is Right About Ivanka
During Wednesday’s episode of Full Frontal, Samantha Bee had a message for Ivanka Trump. “Do something! Tearing children away from their parents is so evil, it’s the inciting incident in almost every movie we’ve ever cared about. You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless cunt!”
Review of 'The Americans' Finale
An exquisite, satisfyingly restrained, even beautiful finale to The Americans last night—a series which only in this, its sixth and final season, has become, in my view, one of the finest series ever on television. This is because, although the series started as gangbusters in its first year, and although it never lost the astonishing originality of its premise and first season, it meandered, almost got repetitive and stuck in a quagmire in subsequent years, only to reclaim the best that it was was and exceed it in this last season.

Politics. It's everywhere. Nobody likes it, yet everyone talks about it. Now more than ever it seems. Social media, news channels, billboards, shirts, everything bares the motos and names of politicians, political organizations, and activist groups. With so many voices, it makes it easier to be heard in groups. Of course, in the U.S. the most prominent groups are political parties. Democrats vs Republicans. Liberals vs Conservatives. But where does that leave those in the middle?
Lorraine WoiakPublished 6 years ago in The SwampGun Control
Attaining a weapon in the United States is very convenient for many Americans. Weapons are so accessible that it leads to many issues, such as gun control. It becomes a severe matter when individuals abuse their ability of being in possession of one. But, what can we do to solve this divisive issue?
Debunking the Roseanne Myths
Have you ever had a moment that you wish could be erased from history? May 29, 2018, I had one. My Facebook is littered with pop culture talk because, well, I love pop culture. As I was covering the big story, Roseanne Barr's racist tweets, for various websites yesterday, I found myself making a status. This status basically said that Roseanne would not be canceled because it was the highest rated show on TV and ABC would not give up that ad revenue. As if Channing Dungey was just waiting for me to post it, the minute my status went live, so did the news that the sitcom had, in fact, been canceled. Ouch. People celebrated, but Barr still had her supporters, who were out in full force. They keep repeating the same stances; Bill Maher said the "N" word, Joy Behar called Mike Pence mentally ill, her show was canceled because she's conservative. Let's debunk these arguments one by one, shall we?
Edward AndersonPublished 6 years ago in The SwampTo Keep and Bear or Not to Keep and Bear
Through the ages, there has not been so controversial a debate as the one involving an Amendment written by the Founding Fathers to protect the new America from the British monarchy. That debate is about whether gun control is constitutional. Following the ratification of the Second Amendment in 1791, different pieces of historical evidence from the Founding Fathers have been utilized by both liberals and conservatives as support for their arguments, but this essay will focus on only two pieces of evidence. The syntax and the original motive of the Second Amendment’s existence justify right-winged arguments that gun control is unconstitutional, while leftists claim that the ambiguity in the Amendment’s definitions make gun ownership limited to a certain group of people rather than every American citizen.
Sarah BryanPublished 6 years ago in The SwampLiving in Two Regimes: Communism vs Capitalism
Sitting in the comfort of my living room, I flipped the remote control and stumbled upon a TV program that stirred my emotions and brought me 30 years back. The show was about a Communistic regime in North Korea, and I felt as though I was watching a video from my childhood: the kids being interviewed were wearing the same uniforms and saying patriotic speeches. I felt like it was me on that screen, being interviewed by an American journalist and representing my country, the Soviet Union.
Nina DomrichevaPublished 6 years ago in The SwampThe Smoke and Mirrors of the Democrats
Click for AUDIO VERSION. The Democrats are desperate. Regardless of what the mainstream media says, they are losing ground to the Republicans going into the 2018 midterm elections. We have discussed how the MEDIA twists the facts in their favor and the steps taken by the Democrats to change VOTING regulations, both of which hit below-the-belt. This desperation hints at the power struggle going on within the party itself with the progressive's trying to retain control. If they lose in November, they'll likely lose in 2020 and forfeit control of the party.
Knowledge: Is It Really Power?
Political cartoons are in and of themselves meant to comment through imagery and text on contemporary social issues, evoking a strong emotional opinion in the viewer. In one of Nick Anderson’s political cartoons, a small burqa-clad woman kneels on an open book three times as big as her with the word “Knowledge” inscribed on one of its pages. A large man wearing a hijab towers over her with the words “Boko Haram” written on his chest and he is about to crush the woman with a book captioned “Dogma.” The message conveyed by the cartoon is clear: the education of women in countries taken over by the terroristic Nigerian sect Boko Haram is forbidden by the male overlords who enforce Sharia, or Islamic, Law upon the people. To raise awareness in young men and women about how Boko Haram forbids the education of women, the cartoon uses specific design elements that are emotionally, yet logically, inducing.
