Were Your Jeans Created by a Sexual Assault Victim?
Work. It is a fact of life and has been called inherently humanizing. Whether we like your job or not, we all agree that we have to work. But what happens when the job you have frequently puts you at risk for sexual harassment and sexual assault?

As someone who floats between a size 12, 14, or 16, I constantly find it so difficult to shop for clothing. I look at clothes at popular stores and only see it going up to size 10 or having a bunch of XS and no XL. I'm going to go ahead and just call these stores out... Francescas, Forever 21, H&M, Urban Outfitters... just to name a few. I went shopping because, well, I need cute clothes... who doesn't!? But this last shopping experience got me really thinking... why isn't there more of a conversation about these stores not supporting women larger than a size 10?!

Documentary Analysis – The True Cost (2015) The documentary, The True Cost, was released in 2015. Directed by Andrew Morgan, the film is about the impact that the problems in the fashion industry had on people and the planet. We saw the broad picture of the environmental, social, and economic sectors of the fashion industry. Most viewers, including those in the fashion industry, were receptive and acknowledged the problems. They changed their lines of production to have fairly traded clothes that were free of toxic chemicals and reduced human illnesses.
The Psychology Behind Being a Well-Dressed Person
Most people take fashion and clothing for granted simply because they think these things don’t play important roles in a person’s life. This, of course, is not true. Have you ever wondered why people dress the way they dress? How and why they choose their outfits? This is a rather interesting question because it’s usually not just about fashion trends. There is a lot of thinking and psychology behind all this, so today, we are going to talk about the reasons why men and women dress a certain way.

So many of us enjoy some good online shopping, especially at our favorite store's sites. But just imagine after spending your hard-earned cash and scoring some pieces only to receive your new goodies accompanied by something additional that reflected the brand's judgment on your body.

We’ve all been there, searching for ideal dress, blouse or pants that fit well, meet our style, and satisfy our budget…Were you lucky to find them? Me? No… I’ve always wanted to change the design and have clothes cut to my body measurements.
Nathalie NeuillyPublished 5 years ago in StyledBuying Clothing May Be a Necessity, So We Need to Do It Responsibly
The impact of the fashion industry is something we don’t think about very often. We ooh and ahh at clearance prices, gasp at the cuteness, make sure we always have what’s in style and activity-appropriate. Fast Fashion, a term that has gained popularity recently to describe cheaply made garments that are usually imported, has made it possible for people to always have something new, cute, appropriate and in style.

"Recycling" and "reusing" are two different things, especially in the clothing world. When speaking in textile terms, "recycling" does not mean dropping off at your local charity store to be given to the needy or sold to a reseller who is creating their own online, work-at-home business to feed their family. Think in terms of "recycling" like melting old soda cans into aluminum, or crushing glass to make new bottles. Depending on how old you are, think newspaper drives at school.

I am well-known among my friends for what has been deemed my "endless wardrobe." This is not only because shopping for deals is my idea of an Olympic sport, but also because the way I dress and how I look for the day is an expression of how I feel and what I am projecting onto the world around me. I am a firm believer that an outfit can completely transform a person: physically, mentally, and spiritually. More importantly, changes in wardrobe are essential in helping me feel renewed, especially after a breakup or another major life event.

At the mention of Kente, the first thought is the Asantes from Ghana. Yes, there are several groups that are also associated with Kente, but the Asantes are more in touch with Kente cloth than anyone else. It was created 375 years ago, in a village called Bonwire in Ghana-Asante region, and was established between 1701 and 1717. This was when the Asante King (Asantehene), Nana Osei Tutu I was in power. Interestingly, the first kente cloth was made of raffia fiber and only belonged to the Asante clan. Years later, there was a redesign of the cloth.

It probably won't be shocking, or even remotely surprising, when I tell you that there are different attitudes regarding black-owned, and white-owned luxury fashion labels. Whilst white-owed brands are likely to get away with whatever they want in terms of marketing, prices and design, it's been made clear that there is a different standard and set of expectations reserved for black-owned brands and businesses.
