Support Liptember! First and foremost, this month’s priority is to wear bright lipstick. Moreover, it was started in 2010 to raise awareness and funds for women’s mental health.

Although it started in Australia, this organization’s mission is to improve mental health not only in Australia but worldwide.

Though mental health is treated for all genders, biologically, hormonal, and social issues such as menstruation, menopause, and pregnancy influence women differently. So, this campaign uses vibrant lipstick as a conversation starter to open discussions about women’s mental health.

September is also the beginning of the school year and the change of seasons. Both the change of schedule and weather can trigger anxiety and feeling overwhelmed.

At the same time, women have higher rates of depression, and many men suppress their emotions to maintain strength for their family.

The movement to support Liptember is essential to raise awareness for women’s mental health.

In the news presently is the story about Lindsay Clancy, who strangled her 3 children due to being depressed and tired of living. Three weeks before she killed her children, she was released from a psychiatric hospital. After strangling her children, she cut herself and jumped from a 2nd-floor window.

Personally, I lost my sister, Edie, to violence when her husband, who suffered mental illness, killed her, and many years later, I witnessed a close friend suffer a severe mental health breakdown.
