It's the feeling like you can't be heard
It's the feeling like you're not heard
It's the feeling like you can't go anywhere
It's the feeling like you can't move or share
It's the feeling like you can't say no
It's the feeling like you can't let go
It's the feeling like there's no escape
It's the feeling like you're a mistake
It's the feeling like you can't be free
It's the feeling like you can't be me
It's the feeling like you can't speak up
It's the feeling like you can't share your love
It's the feeling like you can't find the way
It's the feeling like you can't break away
It's the signs of emotional abuse
It's hard to tell when it's too late
It's hard to tell when it's too far
It's hard to tell when you're broken down and barred
Can be a sign of something wrong,
When one can’t do and one can’t be,
The feelings of guilt and shame,
The lack of communication,
The other one will feel so gone.
And back into the light of day
And once you’ve escaped this emotional abuse
You’ll never forget how it felt to lose
But it’s time to start anew
And find the strength within you
To move on and start a new life
And find the joy and peace and light
And never again be a victim of abuse
So you can find the love and joy that you deserve
The heavy weight of pain,
That sits in your heart,
Reminds you of the tears,
That keep falling apart.
The fear of being judged,
In a new loving embrace,
Makes you question yourself,
Is this the right place?
The hurtful words that fly,
In a raging storm of abuse,
Are they trying to bring you down,
And take away your use?
The silent treatment that follows,
As if you are a ghost,
Leaves you feeling hollow inside,
Your emotions just toast.
The gaslighting of your feelings,
That leaves you feeling confused,
Making you doubt your mind,
And think your feelings are used.
The blaming for all the wrongs,
That makes you feel so small,
Makes you question your sanity,
And your sense of it all.
The guilt that holds you back,
From emotions that are true,
Makes it hard to follow your heart,
And what you want to do.
The hatred that fills the air,
When trying to express your needs,
Makes it hard to trust again,
In the hope to succeed.
The isolation that is forced,
From family and friends alike,
Makes it hard to break away,
From the cycle of the fight.
The manipulation of mind,
To distance yourself away,
From the people who care for you,
Day in and out of play.
The economic abuse,
That follows to control,
Makes it hard to escape,
And take back your soul.
The threats of harm,
That become real,
Makes it hard to stay safe,
When danger is revealed.
The sexual abuse,
That tears apart,
Leaves you feeling broken,
And a piece of your heart.
The power and control,
That has been taken away,
Makes it hard to feel safe,
And have time to play.
The cycles of abuse,
That keep repeating over and over,
Makes it hard to break free,
And stand out as a lover.
The trauma that follows,
That keeps you in fear,
Makes it hard to move forward,
And hold back a tear.
But know that you are strong,
And you can break out of this,
Take back your freedom,
And you will be truly bliss.
The signs of emotional abuse are hard to take
It's hard to tell when it's too late
