When I was six or seven, my parents went out to celebrate an anniversary and left our grandmother to watch my brothers and me. Grandma Jean is British, and when I was little I loved this the most about her. She brought chocolate Smarties and Noddy books back for us in her luggage and made us afternoon tea. I spent so much time reading British books, in fact, that I was often corrected at school for using a ‘u’ in the word 'color.'

Mocktails will save your life. As a casual wine drinker (it's 5 o'clock somewhere), I had to immediately find a substitute beverage for my evenings and social events. Sparkling water became my go-to, either alone or with juices and fresh or frozen fruit (still served in a wine glass for old times' sake). When out at the bars, soda water and a lime will keep anyone from asking you where your drink is.

Japanese sake has one of the longest, most storied histories of all alcoholic beverages, yet its tale remains largely unknown outside the country of its birth, or to anyone who isn't a dyed-in-the-wool aficionado. Let's take a fun look at some lesser-known facts surrounding an alcohol that's been called Japan's national beverage.

If there's one thing that Millennials have become famous for, it's their love of drinking, gastropubs, and artisan food. It's almost become a cliche, much like the Millennial trends of hipstery clothing and having an allegedly anti-marriage attitude.

Sheera LeePublished 7 years ago in Proof29 Rules of Drinking
Most would agree that getting drunk is easy–but getting the right kind of drunk? Not so much.
