Songs that helped me feel pride
Ever since I was young, I had a great love for music. In fact, one of my biggest fears as a child was that the world would run out of new songs and that creativity would cease. Thankfully that fear was unfounded! To this day, music is such a big part of my life, I even dream of becoming a lyricist and co-producer. One of the reasons I am so passionate about music is because when I felt alone, the music of artists like Fall out Boy, Lady Gaga, and BTS was always there for me. The reason I accept myself this much today is thanks to the messages I heard from musical artists. I and many others found solace and truth in the fact we were born this way. So, in this playlist, I want to list new and old songs whose iconic presence shaped my life, gave me confidence, and helped me find community.

Over and over, Israel has been accused of pinkwashing. What is pinkwashing? Glad you asked. Let's visit our good friend Wikipedia to see what they say about it:

I worked as a Lyft Driver for 3 years. My first year I marched with Lyft in the Pride Parade and met all kinds of fabulous along the entire route then spent the rest of the day giving rides to people heading to the Pride Festival. It was one of my most memorable days ever. The day passed in a blur of color and singing and love. The most fun moment was taking a young man to a local bar to meet his friends who were waiting there with signs and balloons and flowers to celebrate his Coming Out and his 21st birthday. The most poignant moment was driving a woman past her sister who was standing with protesters at the entrance holding a sign that read, "Jesus Hates You". We had a long wait to get to the drop off point so I handed her tissues, held her hand for a minute and let her sit in the car long enough to fix her make up. I wish I could have done more.

It's pride month and I couldn't be happier... or prouder. After a year which has on a global level changed our lives and perspectives, it has never been more important to come together as one and celebrate and hug our friends and family, spend time with them, re-connect.

The time of year to celebrate our inner queens has finally come around again. With lockdown in England coming to an end the same month as pride it is cause for being more than just extra. We can finally see our fellow LGBTQIA+ and it definitely calls for a celebration. I compiled a list of lesbian/queer musicians who I feel are not as recognised as they should be.

1975 was the year I turned 15, and this song was the one that really brought it home to me--some people made difficult choices. Choices that meant conformity, not happiness. Choices that meant hiding under a bushel instead of letting their true light shine.
Paula ShabloPublished 3 years ago in PrideWhere My Journey Toward Pride Began
I’m just 1 person on a constantly evolving journey toward pride. I could fill a book with the search for myself, though by the time I finished the book, I likely would have discovered new things about myself I would want to include. My understanding of my gender and sexuality grows as more terms are defined and as I explore who I really am. It has taken me years to find myself on the asexuality and genderqueer spectrums and to be open and proud of those parts of me. I can’t fit it all into one article, so I thought I would discuss how my journey began.

seafoam ode to my performed gender at once you foam, then break open. you are the sea, the sea air open- -ing, white froth glint, the light resting inside. the light bursting inside. you are when * the ocean breathes, oh briny more than skin, than lungs, than heart. at once you are all and none. the crest of my tongue laps with you. enter trough and burst * inside. become my blood. your power lies in shift- -ing states, your form at once crystal, once sky, once water, once body. no words can hold you off. you are dimly colorless, yet * infinitely golden. become my blood. oh form as foam as body filled with air, enter. bubble saltwise and burst into * my power, the white froth glint, the resting light inside my shifting shapes.
Rainbow Connection
Why are there so many songs about rainbows? Why am I so obsessed with this one song about rainbows? Kermit the Frog is not exactly what I would consider a Gay Icon. Yet this song should be considered a Queer anthem. Originally The Rainbow Connection was written for the Muppet movie in 1997 by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher and was inspired by the Disney classic when you wish upon a star. It has a beautifully simple message of reaching for your dreams. The soft banjo takes you away from there and honestly I could write for 100 years and never come up with a better pride song it's beautiful in is subtly and moving in its simplicity.
Religious Hypocrisy, Trauma And Pride Month
First of all, Happy Pride to everyone, whether you are LGBTQIA+ or an Ally. Let’s all fly that beautiful rainbow of flags and support each other.
You are the Love that's missing
I know this is all about pride, and I am proud to understand and be happy for all the love that the world can have. I am not a part of the problem because I had great songs that made me grow with another way of understanding love.
