In some relationships, you eventually have to be willing to let the other person lose you. It's not out of spite, nor is it about forcing him back; it's because you finally understand that staying with someone who doesn't cherish you will only make you more and more subservient. You try so hard to maintain the relationship, but he takes your efforts for granted; you keep waiting, but he never truly steps toward you.
