THE CANDLE IN THE WINDOW

The nights are drawing in again,
The daylight slips away,
And shadows gather quietly
At ending of the day.

So light a candle in the dark,
And place it where it shows,
For someone lost and wandering
Down roads that no one knows.

Let every little flame become
A light for lonely eyes,
A tiny piece of heaven sent
Beneath the darkened skies.

For somewhere there’s a broken heart
With no one there to call,
And somewhere someone feels tonight
They have no one at all.

Share a light, a heavenly light,
And let its message be,
You may be lost, you may be scared,
But someone cares for thee.

The candle asks for nothing back,
No silver and no gold,
It only burns to warm the hearts
The night has left so cold.

And as its flame begins to dance,
We bow our heads and pray,
For all the lost and lonely souls
Still trying to find their way.

May angels walk beside them now,
May heaven hold them tight,
May every frightened heart believe
They’re protected this night.

So leave that candle in the glass,
And let its small flame grow,
A beacon for the ones who need
To know which way to go.

Heads bowed, we pray for lonely souls,
For all the hurt and lost,
As a candle in the window shines,
And love comes at no cost.
