For Miso
I watched you grow, Like a flower opening To a kinder season. I watched the fear leave your eyes, Little by little, When home had once been A place that never felt certain.

Winding Down
Author's note: Soon, I'll be preparing my school room for my 40th and final year of teaching. It's bittersweet. Every one of those years has had ups and downs, challenges and triumphs. This poem is inspired by my waning career.

What If?
What If? What if my life had been ideal? No abandonment by my mother, She’d stayed to raise me and not run away Her reasons wouldn’t make me wonder
