I Told My Cat about Vocal’s Off Leash Challenge for Dogs, and She’s Pissed!. Top Story - January 2022.
Ever since Vocal announced their Off Leash Challenge for dogs, I have been thinking about, and wondering if they would ever or have ever had a challenge specifically for cats. I didn’t tell my furry feline friend about the dog challenge right away, as I was concerned about her response. Today we had the conversation, and it went pretty much exactly as I expected it would. Below is my interview with Abigail.

Instinct
I always said it and I will repeat it again: my sense of direction is ridiculously bad, almost nonexistent. Send me out of a bar alone and I will surely go into the opposite direction of where the metro is that I came from just three hours ago. Even with navigation turned on I take wrong turns while driving. It’s almost a tradition now to not find my way home on the first try. It’s like I want to get lost and it has always been this way. Just like that one time I went on one of many walks with my dog as a kid and decided to go deeper into the forest than usual. It was bound to happen and it happened. I got lost in the woods…

My New Family
Ahhhh.. nothing beats a nice brisk walk around the neighborhood with my partner for life!! I hear the leash come out of the kitchen drawer and see it dangle from her hands. I rush over to let her know that I am super excited and ready to go! Bending down to hook it to my collar, I get a hug and kisses before we head to the front door. I try super hard to be patient for the door to open, but it sure is hard to do. I whimper a little and do my, “ hurry the hell” up dance. The big glass door begins to open and my left front paw helps to push it open faster. I love walks. Did I mention HOW MUCH I love walks? Wooohoooo we are outside!!! The sun is shining down on my brindled fur, as I feel a soft wind blow across my happy face. It doesn’t get better then this.

Did You Know That Cats Protect You Against the Negative Energies of the House
Some people believe that cats are animals that carry a negative energy charge. Contrary to popular belief, the cat is an animal with an incredible positive aura. A cat protects not only its owner but the whole family with which it lives, the house, and the surroundings in which it ventures.

My Adventurous Mr. Wallaby
I was working at a zoo when a rusted out burgundy sedan pulled up to the back gate just as we were opening. The car door swung open and out of the back-seat leaped an all black lighting bolt of a puppy. The puppy ran through the gate into the zoo. The beat-up sedan took off, screeching its tires as it peeled away.

Dog Toys: What to Consider When Buying Them
Toys are critical to your dog's health and happiness. When you have to leave your pup at home, having toys alleviate boredom and provide comfort when worried. Dog toys can also aid in the prevention of your dog developing some undesirable traits.

A Chinese word for Beautiful
She was born in spring 2009. When I brought her home in August, our first summer with our new golden retriever puppy marked the beginning of an adventure that we are still living twelve years later. My wife fell in love instantly, and her response when I asked her the Chinese word for beautiful gave our new puppy her name. Mei Li was home with us to stay.

Delta, our stubborn but loveable Dog.
It was June 2003, I was celebrating my birthday and my then wife gave me a T bone steak to cook on the grill. We were strapped for cash during that time. With two little girls to take care of, we were on a very tight budget. So when I received a t bone it was a really special treat.

Sadie
The first time Sarah took me to her upstairs apartment, she said, “I hope you like dogs because Sadie loves people!” When she told me Sadie was her three-year-old German Shepherd, I was a little nervous. “Like that giant Rin Tin Tin crime-fighting dog?” I asked. She responded, “Oh no, not at all. Sadie hates cops.”

A Dog With An Old Soul
when I first visited the animal shelter, I knew what type of dog I wanted. However, that changed when I was in the presence of a small Yorkie. She didn’t run up to me or try to lick me or jump on me like most dogs do. Instead she followed me, while staring at me from a distance of about 7 feet. She had the most innocent looking eyes and I remember her slightly smiling.
