Silent Hunter, Ancient Relentless Killer Yes it’s an FLA as opposed to the rampant TLA )Five Letter Acronym as opposed to a three letter acronym) , but I went through a lot of permutations to come up with that one and probably someone far more intelligent and observant than I has already done it , but I did arrive at it under my own steam.
My Feline Friend
My Feline Friend Dear Diary, I've asked my parents for years to buy me a pet. They finally said yes. We went to the pet store. It didn't take me long to know which one I wanted. The cutest, tiniest, grey kitten with black stripes and a white belly stood out to me. And he wasn't going to be hard to name since I came up with a name right there on the spot - Spikey.
Its a Bull
It's a Bull When Rosie came to us we knew she was pregnant. Having a baby calf on our new farm sounded great. We got Rosie on Easter. She was so sweet. We knew she was due in May. Every day she would moo. So my husband and I decided to get her a friend. We got Maggie a Dexter cow and her baby Chestnut. Rosie was amazing with Chestnut. She treated it as her own. Rosie takes care of everybody, the goats, cows, and calf. So as time went on, May approached. We could see Rosie was huge. We were thinking about why she has not given birth yet. Two weeks later my husband and I headed to bed. We heard a moo. We looked at the camera. Couldn't see well but we saw something. We got our shoes on. Went out to the barn at midnight.
Conversations with a Mako
My mom named me after the Mako shark family. She could not decide between species since I have identical characteristics of both. I am incredibly fast, and I can become airborne at any moment. I am a food fanatic and never miss a meal. I am a rare breed and essentially endangered. Honestly, the resemblance is uncanny. Although Mako sharks describe me perfectly, I like to think my mom named me Mako because they are her favorite shark and I am her favorite dog.
Surprise! Special Breeds!
I wanted a kitten. I guess we should start there. My husband and I had three cats, a dog and a chinchilla. But the three cats were his originally, he had them before I came into the picture. I missed their kittenhoods.
Mr. Mystery Starts for Home
Mr. Mystery was born in the upper Midwest. I live in SW Mississippi--that's a long way for such a tiny little guy to travel! My friend Kathleen, his breeder, and I devised a plan that would make travel a little easier on him. He would leave his birthplace with his breeder and would stay with her at a five-day-long dog show that was just a few hours from her home. They would meet Kathleen there, where she would spend that time getting to know him. He would then travel several more hours to Kathleen's house, where he would stay for a week. After he had been there for several days, I would go to Kathleen's house, where I would stay and get to know him before taking him home. The trip to my house would be the longest stage, but by that time we figured he would be a first class world traveler and take the new move with ease.
2020: The Year of the Brown Paper Box!
Dear Diary, January 2020 New year, same hairballs. As always, every January I am tortured endlessly by the tantalizing talk of "budgies." Human reviews numbers on her phone and mutters of the birds continuously. Yet not once am I given one to prey upon! I take matters into my own paws. I drown a toy bird in my water dish to demonstrate my wishes, but my servant rejects my gift! If it weren't for the Temptations treats, I swear I'd replace her.
A Passel of Cats and Then Some
Oh my goodness? How many are there? There must surely be a passel of cats and then some! The neighbor came over and actually admitted that he had been using binoculars to try to determine how many cats hang out at our place. And he wanted to know if they were all ours. We laughed. He's so silly. Anybody that's ever been around cats knows that you don't own cats. They own you!

Reflection From Our First Sit
I can’t believe we finished our first sit as traveling pet sitters. In a way, I feel like we just arrived to the house, and on the other hand I feel like we’d been there forever. To say we’ve grown over the last couple months is an understatement, but that’s the best way to communicate the way I feel.
The Beguiling Basenji
Can you imagine an animal that washes itself all over like a cat, trots like a racehorse, climbs onto rooftops, has a curly tail, and crows?
The humans do strange things sometimes. Atilla sniffed the box suspiciously. It didn't smell like anything alive. It didn't smell like food. It smelled like the newspapers and books and delivery boxes and so many other things made of paper and cardboard that his humans drag into his home. He had no idea why a paper-wrapped box would be in the middle of his kitchen floor, but he was certain that it was something that the humans did.
