My world imploded in a calamitous instant. I curled in on myself in bed, tucking my head between my folded arms. Anything to block out the sight of spinning turquoise walls plastered with posters.

It was January 19th, 2014, when you came into my life. You were so very tiny, and no one really knew whether you were going to survive. When my friend found you and your other litter mates in a bowl under a truck in the middle of winter, hopes were not high. However, prayers sure were! She knew that the owner of that truck and bowl did not care for you; so, she rescued you all and brought you to our office.

Raise your hand if your dog has ever pestered you, following you from room to room with a bored face? If so, rest assured, you are not alone! Boredom and pent-up energy are the most common reasons dogs develop behavioral problems. Most dogs living in urban settings spend a good chunk of their time alone, and the biggest perk of their day may be seeing their beloved owners coming home. This is a moment of great excitement and celebration and can often be too much to handle for a tired owner who has spent eight hours in the office.

The first dog I remember bonding with was my Grandparent’s dog Rusty. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of sitting happily outside in the dirt while he leaned against me—my arm thrust across his sun warmed body. He had a capacity for stillness that is unusual in most dogs, and we’d sit for long periods together in silent contemplation.
Catherine MoffatPublished 2 years ago in PetlifeHey cooper, remember that time you got neutered ?
In the year 2016 I was blessed with a beautiful and fuzzy gift. My boss at the time gave me a kitten that her neighbor had found in a trash can outside of a mall. I decided to name my new kitten cooper after my favorite celebrity and one of the best rock stars to ever live Alice Cooper. Cooper was and still is a very cute cat. He cute little face and adorable personality are always making me smile. At the end of the following year when I looked at my most liked posts from that year .There was one picture that stood out to me. It was the ninth picture in the grid. It was a selfie that I took in the car while I was holding Cooper. I thought that this was funny because there was a story behind that picture that makes it more interesting then it appears to be. As most people know the majority of cats do not like to go on car rides for fun. If you have your cat in the car there is usually a really good reason for that. When I took this picture the reason he was in the car was because he had just been neutered. Additionally the reason why he was so calm and looked right at the camera as I held him was because the drugs form the surgery had not worn off yet. He was still in a daze from the operation he just went through but I was overjoyed to have him back in my arms. I know how important it is to spay and neuter your pets. There is a major overpopulation issue with it comes to cats and dogs. However, I was so scared when I dropped him off that morning. I knew it was very routine procedure that he was getting and that I should not be worried but I was. It was too expensive to go to a vet’s office to get it done so we had to take him to the cheapest place I could find, spay and neuter program at the county. I don't remember exactly what the price was but it was much more affordable than any vet we could find. I remember when I dropped him off there was someone else that was nervous to leave their cat there as well. It was hard to leave him but I knew I would be seeing him again that afternoon. I couldn't help but worry that something would go wrong. I'm happy to say that all my worries were for nothing. The surgery went fine and he was ready to go home that afternoon. When it was finally time to pick him up after the surgery, I was so happy to see his cute fuzzy face again. He was awake when we arrived to pick him up and the staff member told us that he responded to his name. He was alert to a certain extent but he still had drugs in his system. I was relieved that Cooper would not contribute to the overpopulation problem but I was also very relieved that the surgery was complete and we wouldn't have to go through that again. I held him on the way home, I was so happy to be with him again. When we got home he was still not a hundred percent yet. He had a hard time walking so we had to bring his water to him. Now his surgery is just a thing of the past and we joke about the time we had to drive a drunken cat home. I was so glad to have him back in my arms again after the surgery. I was also overjoyed to have him back in my arms when he had been rescued from a tree but that’s a whole different story.

Sonsie’s been with us a month now and she’s a handful, she’s an absolute delight, but she’s handful. So much so that, while I was planning to get a second kitten, I let go of that idea.

A Man's Best Friend
Dogs come in all shapes and sizes, they tend to be our beacons when life is unbearable or heavy. Life is a struggle and dogs seem to truly understand that. Throughout my entire life, not one dog has proven that statement wrong; even the ones that bite or think your new leather furniture are gigantic chew toys. I am a groomer so I have seen all different breeds and temperaments but- What dog will always have my heart is my red Labrador Retriever. She rants like a husky, she slinks about your legs like a cat, and somehow thinks she’s a lap dog so she may literally smother you with love and kisses.

It all started back in September of 2020. As I'm sure some of you know that year wasn't the best for everyone. It certainly was easy for me and I was praying things would get better. I'd like to think I wasn't the only person wanting something to help deal with life.

For me, the year 2020 started and went on for a while in a very difficult way, and Covid was not the only one to blame. 2020 opened with circumstances that caused me so much agony I finally built the courage to extract myself from them. While I had newfound freedom and it was the best decision, such a change still brought pain and heartache.

I remember that day like it was yesterday, the day we met our sweep puppy Gkar. I had gotten home from work Saturday January 20th, 2018, and my husband told me that a breeder that we reached out to, had a brindle Great Dane puppy. We had wanted a dog for so long and we couldn't wait to meet him. We drove an hour to the breeder to meet the puppy, when we got to meet the puppy was kept in a pen with his sister. He was the cutest little puppy I had ever seen. The breeder told us he was breed from two grand champion show dogs.
