Love and Dragons
He kissed her forehead, and she opened her eyes. “Good morning, Brandon.” They kissed again, and he held her close to him. “Good morning; I could stay like this all day.” His stomach then started to growl, and she giggled. “Let’s go to the river, and I’ll catch some fish.” He got dressed and gave her his shirt since her furs were burned off and walked to the river. Brandon couldn’t stop smiling as he walked side by side with her. She tried to hide her happiness but couldn’t stop smiling. When they got to the river, she walked into the water, and started catching fish with her hands. He gathered wood for a fire, and they cooked the fish. After they ate, he went into his backpack, took out the eggshells, and gave them back to her. "Thank you for letting me use these eggshells. I'm surprised your mother let us take them; I heard dragons are extremely possessive of their treasure." She took the shells and looked at him sheepishly. "She is, but these are mine." He looked at her in confusion. "What do you mean yours?" She sat next to him and held his hand. "Remember last night when I told you I wasn't like other girls?" He nodded. "Well, when I was a child, I froze to death after running away. Mother found me and used her magic to re-give birth to me. I was hatched from a dragon egg, and my mother fed me from her breast. Because of that, I have a few draconic abilities." He began to rub her back. "Like what?" She took a deep breath. "I can run fast, see in the dark, break stone with my bare hands, my skin is like steel, and I can breathe fire. That’s why people call me a freak." She looked down at the ground, waiting.

Love and Dragons
Ten years later, Brandon had grown into a tall, strong, handsome man. He trained with the best fighters and fencing instructors. He learned to hunt, fish, and survive out in the woods. He would take long walks in the wood, hoping to run into Darrina, but he would always return home alone. Each time he would plant flowers in different areas of the woods to remind him where he looked for her. To stay humble, he would do odd jobs around the city. He would never tell anyone who he was and who his father is so he could be treated like everyone else. In doing so, he got to know the people and made many friends; he had two close friends, Bailey and Ethan, who would hang out at the bar after work. Many girls would approach them, but he was never interested. His thoughts were always on Darrina. "Hey Brandon, why haven't you taken a wife yet?" Ethan asked before taking a sip of ale. "Yea, you have your pick of all the girls in town." Said Bailey. "I met the girl of my dreams when I was a boy. I know she's still out there, and I will find her, and when I do, she will be my bride." They shacked their heads at him. "Brandon, you're a romantic fool." Said Bailey. "Let him chase the girl in the woods, Bailey. More maidens for us." Said Ethan smiling. They all laughed and finished their drinks. He returned home one day and decided to go into the forest and not return home until he found Darrina. He went to his father's study to tell him. His father was at his desk reading papers. "Father, I hate to disturb you, but I need a word." He looked up at him and smiled. "I need a word with you too, son, have a seat." He sat down and looked at his father his eyes full of hope. "Brandon, I have watched you transform into a good man since the day you were kidnapped as a boy. Every day you make more and more proud of you, but there is one thing you keep avoiding. It would help if you took a wife soon, or I will have to choose one. Captain Raven has a lovely daughter who would make a wonderful wife and bear you strong children." He started to sink into his chair. "I do not love her father. I want to find Darrina and make her my wife." He crossed his arms. "Ah yes, the girl you told us about all those years ago. Boy, you are chasing a dream; you have been searching for her for years. You need to come back to earth and do your duty to this family." He sighed. "She is real father, and I'm going to find her." He gave him a stern look. "Son, let's make a deal. If you return with this dream woman, I will admit I'm wrong and step back. But if you return alone, you must marry Alora." Brandon smiled and shook his father's hand. "Deal."

Love and Dragons
They left the cave and made their way down the mountain. As they walked, he kept stealing glances at her. She looked at him with her peripherals. "Why do you keep looking at me?" He took a deep breath. "I have dreamed of the day I would see you again. I never forgot that kiss you gave me; I have carried it in my heart ever since." She put her hand on his shoulder. "Is that why you are here risking your life, you came looking for me?" He took her hands and looked into her eyes. "Yes, I came looking for you. I loved you since the day you saved me. I have been looking for you ever since, I planted flowers in the woods hoping you would find them and come looking for me. I wanted to ask you to be my wife." She quickly took her hands back. "You don't know me, Brandon. Whatever romantic fantasies you have about me, forget them. Once we save your friends, go home and never come here again." He felt his heart sink, and he felt sick to his stomach. She walked down the mountain ahead of him in silence, and he looked at the ground the whole time. She looked over at him and saw his eyes were tearing up. "Brandon... I'm sorry I hurt your feeling but." He picked his head up and wiped his eyes. "You already said everything you needed to say. Let's get my friends, and I'll never bother you again."

Love and Dragons
Tanwen, the great golden dragon, walked the countryside on a cold winter night. As she walked, she breathed in the winter air, the moonlight made her scales glitter. She had just said goodbye to her resent hatchling's and breathed out and melted the snow on the trail; the moonlight revealed a child in dirty rags frozen under the snow. A little girl no more than two years old, with a lovely face and red hair that looked like fire. She was thin and covered in bruises. She nudged the child with her nose, but she did not move. Tears started to run down her face thinking who would leave a child in the middle of the woods to die. Her tears landed on the child, her body turned pink, and she heard a faint heartbeat. She wanted to save this little girl and she wrapped up the child in her tongue and swallowed her whole, then went back to the cave in the sapphire mountain. She went to sleep that night, and her belly started to glow. She woke up the next day with her belly swollen, and then she positioned herself over her hoard made up of gold coins and jewels for hours, and with great pain, she forced out a giant gold egg. She laid by the egg for five days until it started to glow and crack. The egg hatched, and the child emerged alive, she looked healthy, and her bruises were gone. Tanwen transformed into a tall, beautiful woman with golden hair that flowed down her back and touched the floor and porcelain skin that was soft as silk with gold eyes that were warm as the sun. The girl looked up and reached out to her, she picked up the child, and held her close.

Dune Pancakes and Waffles
This is a recipe I use for my husband who is diabetic. I don’t use any sugar in these pancakes. I call them Dune pancakes because Dune is my husband’s favorite movie. The one from 1984 not the one that just came out. They are delicious and go great with beacon and sausage. We are both gamer nerds and I love making food that remind us of our favorite hobby. I love making these before or during a gaming session or watching The Gamers movie. Or watching the old Dune movie because the spice must flow.

A Puppies Choice
I remember that day like it was yesterday, the day we met our sweep puppy Gkar. I had gotten home from work Saturday January 20th, 2018, and my husband told me that a breeder that we reached out to, had a brindle Great Dane puppy. We had wanted a dog for so long and we couldn't wait to meet him. We drove an hour to the breeder to meet the puppy, when we got to meet the puppy was kept in a pen with his sister. He was the cutest little puppy I had ever seen. The breeder told us he was breed from two grand champion show dogs.

Alone in a new house.
Buying your first house is always an exciting and terrifying time in any bodies life. We found a house at the end of a dead end road in a quiet town. The house flooded during hurricane Irean so we bought it for a steal. We found a diamond in the rough, a four bedroom, one and a half bath with a full basement and half an acre of land with a shed. We moved in shortly after closing, a blank canvas to do what we will.
