Hey cooper, remember that time you got neutered ?
A story about the time my cat got neutered
In the year 2016 I was blessed with a beautiful and fuzzy gift. My boss at the time gave me a kitten that her neighbor had found in a trash can outside of a mall. I decided to name my new kitten cooper after my favorite celebrity and one of the best rock stars to ever live Alice Cooper. Cooper was and still is a very cute cat. He cute little face and adorable personality are always making me smile. At the end of the following year when I looked at my most liked posts from that year .There was one picture that stood out to me. It was the ninth picture in the grid. It was a selfie that I took in the car while I was holding Cooper. I thought that this was funny because there was a story behind that picture that makes it more interesting then it appears to be. As most people know the majority of cats do not like to go on car rides for fun. If you have your cat in the car there is usually a really good reason for that. When I took this picture the reason he was in the car was because he had just been neutered. Additionally the reason why he was so calm and looked right at the camera as I held him was because the drugs form the surgery had not worn off yet. He was still in a daze from the operation he just went through but I was overjoyed to have him back in my arms. I know how important it is to spay and neuter your pets. There is a major overpopulation issue with it comes to cats and dogs. However, I was so scared when I dropped him off that morning. I knew it was very routine procedure that he was getting and that I should not be worried but I was. It was too expensive to go to a vet’s office to get it done so we had to take him to the cheapest place I could find, spay and neuter program at the county. I don't remember exactly what the price was but it was much more affordable than any vet we could find. I remember when I dropped him off there was someone else that was nervous to leave their cat there as well. It was hard to leave him but I knew I would be seeing him again that afternoon. I couldn't help but worry that something would go wrong. I'm happy to say that all my worries were for nothing. The surgery went fine and he was ready to go home that afternoon. When it was finally time to pick him up after the surgery, I was so happy to see his cute fuzzy face again. He was awake when we arrived to pick him up and the staff member told us that he responded to his name. He was alert to a certain extent but he still had drugs in his system. I was relieved that Cooper would not contribute to the overpopulation problem but I was also very relieved that the surgery was complete and we wouldn't have to go through that again. I held him on the way home, I was so happy to be with him again. When we got home he was still not a hundred percent yet. He had a hard time walking so we had to bring his water to him. Now his surgery is just a thing of the past and we joke about the time we had to drive a drunken cat home. I was so glad to have him back in my arms again after the surgery. I was also overjoyed to have him back in my arms when he had been rescued from a tree but that’s a whole different story.

I adopted a sixteen-year-old cat
This story starts in February of 2014. I was sitting at the computer in the living room. I do not know why I was looking at the adoptable cats on a local animal shelters website. I already had one cat at the time, and we did not have any plans to get another. When I saw a sixteen-year-old black cat named Blanca listed on the webpage for adoption, I felt sorry for her. I knew her age and fur color lowered her chances for getting adopted. It is common knowledge that kittens get adopted quicker than adult cats. Back in 2008 I had gotten my other cat Sherri from the same shelter. She was only two years old at the time, but she had already been at the shelter for three months. Even for the young adult cats adoption can take a while. I knew it would be hard for a sixteen-year-old cat to find a home when it took three months for a two-year-old cat to do so. Also, when it comes to cats there a people who believe that black cats are bad luck. This makes it much harder for black cats to get adopted compared to cats with other fur colors. I somehow was able to convince my parents that we should adopt her. The next day my mom and I went to the animal shelter and asked to see her. She was very friendly and could walk around and jump without any problem. We found out that she had been brought to the shelter to be euthanized but the vets could not find any medical reason to put her down. She was an old cat, but she was a healthy cat. We brought her home and set her up with everything she needed in my room. I must be honest I did not think that Blanca would be around for long. Especially since according to my friend Google cats live an average of fourteen years. Since Blanca was already two years past that I figured she would be with us for a few months or hopefully even a year. It turns out that Blanca did not agree with Google’s answer and that she had other plans. After getting to know Blanca some more I learned that she was a small cat with a big personality. She loved attention when she wanted me to pet her, she would lay down right on my chest and do her absolute best to get between me and my phone. She also had a very loud meow and she knew how to use it. When she wanted something, she made sure that you knew it. I have never had another cat that was as loud as she was. Two words that describe her best are sweet and sassy. After having her for a few years I adopted a kitten who I named Cooper that had be found in a trash can. She made sure to let him know who was boss. Cooper loved to cuddle so they had their cute moments. Unfortunately, Blanca and Sherri never become friends, but they did tolerate each other. My adventure with the sweet and sassy Blanca lasted almost six years! I miss being able to say that I have a cat that is only eight years younger than I am. I absolutely adored her she was friendly and not shy at all. She wanted every visitor to pet her. It was so hard to see her go but I was so blessed to have her for as long as I did. Adopting a senior pet was one of the best choices I have ever made. If you are looking to adopt a new pet, I would suggest that you consider sharing your home with a senior pet because they still have a lot of love to give.

The choice I made..
In the quiet corner of our bustling city, nestled between towering skyscrapers and bustling streets, there was a little pet shop called Paws & Whiskers. It wasn't much to look at from the outside, just a small sign and a modest storefront, but inside, it was a haven for creatures great and small.I remember the day I first stepped into Paws & Whiskers. I was drawn in by the sound of playful barks and the gentle purring of content cats. Rows of cages and aquariums lined the walls, each housing a different animal waiting for a forever home. As I wandered through the aisles, I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and joy wash over me.That's when I saw him – a tiny ball of fur curled up in the corner of a cage. His big, brown eyes met mine, and in that moment, I knew I had found my companion. The choice was made before I even realized it.Bringing him home was a whirlwind of excitement and nerves. I named him Oliver, after the famous literary character who was also a survivor against the odds. From the very beginning, Oliver brought light and laughter into my life. His playful antics and unwavering loyalty became the highlight of my days.But as time went on, I began to notice changes in Oliver. He grew lethargic and withdrawn, his once shiny coat losing its luster. Concerned, I rushed him to the vet, where we received the devastating diagnosis – Oliver was suffering from a rare and aggressive form of cancer.The news hit me like a ton of bricks. I felt helpless and lost, unsure of what to do next. The vet laid out our options – aggressive treatment that offered no guarantees or palliative care to keep Oliver comfortable in his final days. It was the hardest choice I've ever had to make.In the end, I chose to focus on making Oliver's remaining time as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I filled his days with all his favorite things – long walks in the park, endless belly rubs, and plenty of treats. We made memories together that I will cherish forever.As Oliver's condition worsened, I never left his side. I held him close, whispering words of love and gratitude for the joy he had brought into my life. And when the time finally came to say goodbye, I was there, cradling him in my arms as he slipped peacefully away.Losing Oliver was like losing a piece of myself. The grief was overwhelming, but in the midst of it, I found solace in the knowledge that I had given him the best possible life, filled with love and happiness until the very end.In the months that followed, I struggled to come to terms with Oliver's absence. But slowly, with the support of friends and family, I began to heal. And as I looked back on our time together, I realized that the choice I made – to open my heart to Oliver – was the best decision I ever made. Despite the pain of losing him, I wouldn't trade a single moment we shared for anything in the world.

It's Caturday
Introduction This is nothing more than an excuse to share more pictures of the cats that I meet on my walks. Some days I see no cats, some days I see lots. Today there were lots including one in my garden. I saw the word Caturday trending on some social media platform or other so thought it would be another excuse to share some of the pictures that I captured.

The Business of Nature
Dew drops reflected the light of the sun. The inhabitants of Whispering Woods woke up to the golden droplets of water on the leaves of the flora. The oaks particularly enjoyed the light and the maples did, too. Happiness enveloped all who lived there, even the rocks that cried out in the night delighted in the morning.
