Alcohol vs. nicotine
I didn’t think I’d live to see the day I’d say this, but here it goes … I’m offended. Well, yes, you know how it goes, these days everyone is offended by something. Whether it’s a woman in sexy clothing, an English expression, or wishing someone Merry Christmas, one fool or another will shout that he/she is offended.Me, I didn’t think I would be offended by anything, but I was wrong, I’m offended too by the way smokers are treated. In Canada, smoker bashing has become something of a national sport and in general, smokers are taking it lying down. Well, not me, I want to get a few things off my chest.

If I were you - Lynn Austin
Once upon a time, I read romance books. Then at one point, I got sick and tired of the boy meets girl stories and switched to murder mysteries. I never looked back, until now. I recently picked up ‘If I Were You’ by Lynn Austin. Not because the story particularly appealed to me, but because of the narrator, Sarah Zimmerman, whose voice I absolutely love.

Sonsie and the gang
A few weeks ago, I started my post with ‘Sonsie’s been with us a month now If one was to ask me now how long Sonsie has been with us, I honestly wouldn’t know because somewhere along the line we stopped counting. First, we counted in days and then in weeks and then for some reason we stopped counting. Sonsie is well and truly part of the family now and who counts how long a family member has been around? Nobody. One celebrates a birthday and that’s about it.

The Vampire Knitting Club by Nancy Warren
I don’t like vampires. Sure, I watched 'Buffy, the Vampire Slayer', and I watched 'Angel', but that’s more or less where it stops. I was never very interested in Dracula, never watched Twilight, and only watched the Vampire Dearies until I got bored with the cast. So, when I came across The Vampire Knitting Club I scrolled past it without giving the books a second glance. Eugh, more vampires.

Suspects by Lesley Pearce
Those who are familiar with various authors have come to expect a certain kind of story from them. From Linwood Barclay you get a murder story; those who like horror will turn to Stephen King; Anne Rice will thrill you with vampire stories, while Lesley Pearce excels in writing human suffering stories.

The answer to insomnia
Have you ever noticed how quickly a cat (or a dog for that matter) falls asleep? They lay down, close their eyes, and within no time they’re off to dreamland. It doesn’t matter where they decide to sleep, whether on a bed, in a chair, or on the floor, dozing off is no problem whatsoever.

There are so many reasons you should choose a good narrator
I wonder if authors ever consider the value of a good narrator for their audiobooks. Whether you’re a mainstream author or a self-published writer thinking of having a story transformed into an audiobook, the importance of a good narrator is not to be underestimated.

You're never going to believe what happened to me.
Seriously, you’re not going to believe what happened to me yesterday. You know how you can feel that something bad is about to happen? Well, I had that feeling when I woke up. It was a perfectly lovely day, the sun was shining and it was nice and warm, but at the same time, a chill was running up and down my back. I couldn’t put my paw on it, but something definitely wasn’t quite right.
