The best of Eckhart Tolle:
A few of his many, life changing phrases
Eckhart Tolle,
A German spiritual teacher and self-help author, perhaps one of the greatest to walk this earth. I mean, come on, even Kendrick Lamar references him in the start of his song 'Saviour - interlude'. So, he must be good right?
Keep reading to find out just how good he is.
Eckhart Tolle says that only through the present moment do you have access to the power of life itself. That power is God.
He is well known for offering interesting insight on topics such as spiritual enlightenment.
“People don't realize that now is all there ever is; there is no past or future except as memory or anticipation in your mind.”
Eckhart Tolle
It takes a lot for people to truly fathom this idea of “the present is all we know”.
How many times a day do you live in the moment? How often do you actually go out and smell the roses? How many times a day do you think about what’s happening within the next few hours, what you're making for dinner, or stressing about that pesky meeting approaching the next day?
I challenge you to take a moment everyday and think of one thing you’re grateful for. Whether it be the comfy warmth of your bed, the clean flowing water from your taps, or the scrumptious food you get to stuff your face with daily, I challenge you to think of one different thing everyday, just for a few minutes. Pay attention to the stillness of life, and how much there truly is to be grateful for!
Here are a few more of my favorite Eckhart quotes:
1. “To know yourself as the being underneath the thinker, the stillness underneath the mental noise, the love and joy underneath the pain, is freedom, salvation, enlightenment.”
Eckhart Tolle
2. “Some changes look negative on the surface but you will realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge”.
Eckhart Tolle
3. “Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance”
Eckhart Tolle
True that!!
4. “It is through gratitude for the present moment that the spiritual dimension of life opens up.” Eckhart Tolle
5. “To complain is always nonacceptance of what is. It invariably carries an unconscious negative charge. When you complain, you make yourself into a victim. When you speak out, you are in your power. So change the situation by taking action or by speaking out if necessary or possible; leave the situation or accept it. All else is madness.”
Eckhart Tolle
Instead of complaining or ever saying “why me?!”, I invite you to change that one pesky sentence to “what is this trying to teach me?’ or “what is there to learn from this experience”. I promise you, your perspective on everything that inhabits this earth will change. To complain, hope, or want, means you are speaking from a lacking mindset. If you continue to think like this, you will always lack peace and consciousness.
6. “Acceptance looks like a passive state, but in reality it brings something entirely new into this world. That peace, a subtle energy vibration, is consciousness.”
Eckhart Tolle
7. “The power for creating a better future is contained in the present moment: You create a good future by creating a good present.”
Eckhart Tolle
I agree with this quote so much. As long as the present is always good, your future will always be good. To make sure your present is always good, your mindset must be good. What a wonderful way to commit to life.
8. “To end the misery that has afflicted the human condition for thousands of years, you have to start with yourself and take responsibility for your inner state at any given moment. That means now.”
Eckhart Tolle
9. “Love is a state of being. Your love is not outside. It is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it can not leave you”
Eckhart Tolle
10. “Presence is when you’re no longer waiting for the next moment, believing that the next moment will be more fulfilling than this one.”
Eckhart Tolle
11. “Compassion is the awareness of a deep bond between yourself and all creatures”
Eckhart Tolle
Last, but not least,
12. “Don’t wait to be successful at some future point. Have a successful relationship with the present moment and be fully present in whatever you are doing. That is success.”
Eckhart Tolle
Wow.
