Simply Me.. Top Story - February 2024. Content Warning.
I'll start this off by saying that if I had to choose a word for this next year on Vocal, it would be Discovery. Vocal has been my breakthrough for my writing. What I mean by that, is I have enjoyed writing since I can remember. As a child, and into my teens I loved writing poems and song lyrics, and eventually started writing fictional love stories. But then I became an adult, and that life hit me like a freight train. Writing fell on the back burner for many years, even though I still had a desire deep down to continue it. I always let life get in the way though. And then, in my early 30's I ran across the Vocal platform. A spark lit back up in me, just a small one though. Because unfortunately at the time I was stuck in an unhealthy addiction which consumed my time and energy. So I signed up for the yearly subscription, and started to write. And boy did I write, for several months in fact. But sadly a year down the road I looked at my progress, and all I had to show for it were a bunch of unfinished drafts. I was going through so much I didn't really have the ability or attention span to commit myself to what I so badly wanted to do. With that being said, and before I can talk about my goals and aspirations for this new year on Vocal, I need to give you a bit more insight into my past.

It’s finally the New Year, which means it's new me right? Every year I have new goals and aspirations for the next 12 months- 1 year. Every year 70 % of what I have planned for myself never gets accomplished. Why? I couldn't tell you. The goals I've made aren't necessarily unrealistic but I fail to come up with a realistic plan to accomplish the goal or something comes up where I have a setback. Just excuses for why I'm not where I want to be in life. I feel like this is my year.

2024 The Year of The Breakthrough
Day 21/366 days of writing and publishing in 2024. When I was a child, writing was my passion. I would spend hours crafting poems and pouring my thoughts into my journal. As I entered my twenties, I found inspiration in the stories I encountered while tending bar, and I began writing short stories. The 29 years I spent in the industry provided me with countless characters and memories that fueled my creativity. During my thirties, I delved into the world of dating and even toyed with the idea of turning my disastrous experiences into a book of short stories titled "Bad Dating."

Soorarai Pottru Movie Theme
It is not exactly from "Soorarai Pottru," but rather a motivational saying attributed to Swami Vivekananda: "Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached." Nonetheless, this motivational message is supported by the movie's themes of unwavering will, tenacity, and not giving up until the goal is accomplished. This spirit is personified in "Soorarai Pottru," by Maara, the main character. He continues in his efforts, demonstrating an unrelenting commitment to his aim, in spite of the many difficulties and roadblocks he encounters in his quest to make air travel accessible to the general public. The remark emphasises the value of tenacity and resilience in the face of difficulty, which is in line with the plot of the movie. Maara's path embodies the spirit of this motivational saying as he keeps trying.
